National Livelihoods Coordinator
Purpose of the Post
To
facilitate the Secretariat to contribute maximally in the enhancement of
sustainable livelihood practices at National level
Duties
- Develops
and coordinates national-level interventions of the Catholic Church in
area of Livelihoods promotion.
- Collaborate
with local authorities and other agencies in the design and implementation
of sustainable livelihoods approaches
- Provides
technical assistance to the Diocesan Caritas in the areas of Sustainable
Livelihood approaches including areas of microfinance, small and medium
enterprises, environmental protection, and Agriculture and Food Security
- Develops,
as well as supports other agencies’ initiatives for enhancing longer term
resilience approaches at national, metropolitan and diocesan levels.
- Develops
and coordinates ongoing arrangements at national, metropolitan and
diocesan levels for capacity development for rural and urban based
livelihoods programmes
- Networks
and collaborates with other churches, government agencies, and NGOs
undertaking Sustainable livelihoods and Relief programmes
- Manage
and coordinate Livelihoods projects, including producing and coordinating
Project Implementation Plans for each intervention and overseeing the
ongoing monitoring and evaluation.
- Assist
dioceses in identifying new areas for project intervention and draft new
project proposals/concept notes guided by the Commission Strategic Plan;
- Represent
KEC-CS externally where necessary and ensure good collaboration with local
authorities and other Livelihoods programme implementing agencies;
- Work
closely with the National and Diocesan Gender, advocacy and Humanitarian
Program Coordinators to ensure cross cutting issues of gender, HIV/AIDS,
and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) are mainstreamed into all emergency
interventions and livelihoods programmes;
- Have
overall responsibility for the Livelihoods budgets that includes
monitoring budgets, authorizing programme payments, managing resources and
making monthly forecasts of projected spending;
- Makes
recommendations, as the need arises, to the Caritas Kenya Director for
enhancing effectiveness of in the specific area of operation
Profile
- Academic
degree in area of Livelihood Development, Agriculture, Environment,
Natural sciences or other subject related to livelihoods development
- Proven
experience in project cycle management in an NGO setting
- Proven
experience with financial analysis and management
- Proven
experience with management of expatriates and local staff
- Proven
experience in implementing security policy in insecure, unstable areas
- Proven
experience in representation with (national) authorities, UN and (I)NGO’s
- Excellent
communication skills
