Head of Training
Overview
of Position
Kimetrica
is a fast growing technology company headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya with
offices in the US.
In
addition to software and data services, we provide training in our core areas
of competence (project design and management, M&E, survey design and management,
and disaster management).
Our
objective is to professionalize the non-profit sector.
We
are developing an e-learning curriculum, covering all our core areas of
expertise.
Kimetrica
intends to become the global market leader in provision of e-learning, webinar
and classroom-based training services in our areas of expertise.
Kimetrica is seeking a dynamic individual, who is committed to strengthening capacity in the non-profit sector, to lead our training services.
The
Head of Training will report directly to the Technical Director, and the
position will require close liaison with the software, survey and business
development services.
Tasks
Coordinate production and quality control of training
materials (55 percent):
- Maintain
and update a style guide
- Coach
staff and consultants on Kimetrica training content development
- Review
and edit online text content provided by staff and consultants
- Design
curriculum, module, and tutorial structures to ensure optimal content
delivery
- Research
and develop content for core tutorials
- Develop
and edit online help files and guidance panels
- Verify
that content images are appropriate, correctly rendered, do not infringe
copyright and add value to the training content
- Ensure
consistent academic source referencing of all content
- Develop
and edit test questions
- Supervise
animation and video production where necessary
- Coordinate
in-house and external review of all new materials
Support bespoke training for Kimetrica clients (20 percent):
- Participate
in Business Process Reviews and technology rollout strategies
- Conduct
training needs assessments and help clients to identify their requirements
- Oversee
and contribute to development of custom training materials for training
clients
- Provide
oversight to client side training and coaching in liaison with the
Advisory Service
Contribute to the global rollout of e-learning, webinars,
video training, and classroom training services (10 percent):
- Liaise
with Business Development Service (BD) to gather market intelligence and
understand core training needs in our client group
- Support
BD in the development of promotional materials on training services
- Assist
in the identification of potential clients and markets
- Undertake
demos and present Kimetrica training services to potential clients
- Develop
course accreditation and collaborative agreements with top universities
- Advising
on appropriate pricing structures and delivery modalities
Provide strategic leadership to our training services (10
percent):
- Develop
annual strategic plans
- Ensure
that all training projects and services are properly appraised
- Prepare
and submit budgets for training activities
- Line
manage training staff and consultants where applicable
- Participate
in strategic planning meetings at a senior level
Provide direction on the development of e-learning software
tools (5 percent):
- Identify
core client requirements for the learning tool experience
- Advise
the development team on future extensions to the e-learning software and
suggest improvements
- Ensure
that feedback is captured and made actionable for software improvements
- Analyze
training feedback on all our software and ensure that it is conveyed to
the relevant development teams
Terms
and Conditions
- Initially
Nairobi-based or frequent travel to Nairobi
- Probationary
period of 2 months
- Option
to work remotely / from home
- Base
salary payable at competitive rate based on qualifications, experience and
earning history
- Profit
share to be negotiated based on a fixed percent of after tax profits from
training services
- Infrequent
international travel
Qualifications
- Excellent
and precise English language verbal and written communications skills
- Extensive
experience in teaching/training and course development focused on adult
education
- Postgraduate
degree in related area
- Subject
knowledge in one or more of Kimetrica’s core areas of expertise
- Experience
of multimedia material production (esp. video) would be an advantage
- Good
computer skills and knowledge of HTML, graphics packages and e-learning
software
- Proven
commitment to non-profit work e.g. voluntary work
- Willingness
and ability to promote training services and develop client base
