The
Government of Kenya is receiving support from the Government of Finland to
implement the “Miti Mingi Maisha Bora Programme – Support to Forest Sector
Reform in Kenya”.
The
overall objective of the Programme is: “A reduction in poverty through ensuring
that the forest sector contributes effectively and sustainably to improving the
lives of the poor, restoring the environment, and aiding the economic recovery
and growth of Kenya, within the context of Vision 2030”.
The
Programme purpose is: “Improved forest and woodland management and utilization
practices, and a transformation of policy and institutional arrangements to
serve the needs of communities, the private sector, civil society and the
government.”
In
order to strengthen the Ministry’s capacity to meet the programme’s purpose and
ensure the success of the on-going forest sector reforms , the Ministry will
employ on a 3-year contract a National Forest
Coordination Expert who will assist in the coordination &
management of the forest sector, the development of partnerships with sector
ministries, institutions, and county governments, the coordination and
maintenance of effective communication with partners of development including
donor-funded development programmes, and the formulation & implementation
of the National Forest Programme.
The
expert will also be responsible for the mainstreaming of governance and
cross-cutting issues across the programmes of the Ministry.
The
