Job Description: 
One Acre Fund is a rapidly growing organization; increasing the number of sublocations and districts we work in each year.  


We are about to construct a new office facility to accommodate around 250 employees and a residential facility with 60 dwellings in the Kakamega region.  

We are seeking individuals to manage the programming of on-site construction activities on behalf of One Acre Fund. 

Contract details:
 Project and subject to performance, possibly leading to a permanent position

Candidate Profile 

Interested Applicants must meet the following criteria and requirements (all of equal importance):
  • Experience of working construction projects is preferable, but not essential;
  • IT literate, good level of skill with Microsoft Project or similar software is preferable;
  • Pro-active problem solver;

Roles and Responsibilities
  • To regularly update the project progress of both sites throughout the construction phase;
  • To produce a robust and realistic project programme in the pre-construction phase;
  • Produce weekly progress reports to be issued to the One Acre Fund Construction Manager and Infrastructure Associate;
  • Manage the production and compilation of project progress photos;
  • At the pre-construction phase to be working with the Finance Assistant to produce a projected cash-flow throughout the construction phase;
  • Making programme assessments of the time implications of variations to the scope of works;
  • Represent One Acre Fund in a professional manner, reporting on progress and anticipated issues arising;
  • Report to One Acre Fund Construction Manager;
  • Provide constructive feedback to One Acre Fund of ways to improve the financial reporting procedure, and to be constantly looking to deliver a high quality project and ensure that best practice is followed.

As our Procurement and Logistics Officer, you will work closely with the operations coordination and all other TIS functional teams to include and not limited to the program and grants team, the program grantees and vendors to support the above-referenced program objectives.
 
The work of Procurement / Logistics Officer requires detailed knowledge and Somalia experience, highly developed collaboration and networking skills and the exercise of discretion, judgment, and personal responsibility.

Qualifications and skills sought
  • University degree level or equivalent in Business Administration, Bachelor of Commerce, Logistics/Procurement and Supply Chain Management or any other appropriate field.
  • Minimum four (4) years relevant experience in a similar position, with specific focus on local/international procurement, clearing & forwarding, VAT exemption processes, Kenyan/Somalia laws and regulations, fleet management, insurance and inventory/stock/supplies management, development and control.
  • Previous experience with USAID funded program, International or Local NGOs is preferred.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with senior government personnel, colleagues, donor partners, private sector, and other actors that may be involved in the overall implementation of the project
  • Ability to maintain high integrity in performing assigned responsibilities.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and work with minimal supervision under tight deadlines.
  • In addition, must be flexible, willing to perform assigned and additional duties and work irregular hours under unpredictable conditions.
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously within a multicultural team.

  • Fluency in English, Knowledge of Somali language is preferred

Principle Accountabilities

Care International Nutrition Supervisor Job in Garowe, Puntland

National Position
 
CARE is an International NGO working in Somalia. CARE and its partners work with vulnerable communities to address the underlying causes of poverty and promote peace and development, through its strategic goal to reduce poverty by empowering women, enhancing access to resources and services, and improving governance. 

CARE is looking for suitable candidates to fill the positions of Nutrition Supervisor based in Garowe, Puntland with frequent travels and support to project sites in South Somalia (mainly Lower Juba and Mogadishu).
 
Job Summary: The Nutrition supervisor will oversee the day to day implementation of all aspects of emergency nutrition activities including running of curative programs (SC/OTP/SFP), community mobilization, IYCF, micronutrient supplementation, needs assessments, program reporting and devise new interventions as deemed necessary. 

S/he will be required to provide nutrition technical back stopping to CARE and partner staff through capacity building initiatives to staff as well as the community at large. 

The incumbent will also be required to create working synergy between the nutrition component and other emergency projects for proper utilization of resources at the field office. 

S/he will need to respond to immediate nutrition issues with simultaneous consideration of medium and long term needs and opportunities. 

S/he will be required to make regular monitoring efforts and periodic visits to all emergency nutrition project field sites (Puntland and Lower Juba) on regular basis.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
1. Program management and implementation
  • Provide leadership and technical expertise in nutrition assessments during emergency response and ensure that nutrition program is linked to other emergency response components.
  • Design, implement and analyze food and nutrition related needs assessment for under-fives, pregnant and lactating women within and outside CARE program areas.
  • Analyze need for target support to infant and young child feeding and if appropriate organize support in coordination with local partners and volunteers
  • Work with CARE and partner staff to develop a sustainable community based programs for addressing direct, underlying and basic causes of malnutrition
  • Represent CARE International in Somalia in all matters related to nutrition in the assigned program location while liaising with partners, donors, governments and NGOs at field
  • Participate in establishing funding requirements for nutrition interventions and contribute to the development of proposals and concept notes for emergency response
  • Plan and manage the nutrition programme in a phased and prioritized manner with full consultation and coordination with Care staff and other agencies both governmental and no governmental organizations
  • Integrate M&E systems to support beneficiaries accountability , donor reporting, performance metrics and organizational learning
2. Program Design
  • Work in close collaboration with the Nutrition Technical Manager and the broader country office programmes to ensure that emergency nutrition interventions build upon longer term programming
  • Provide up to date nutrition data and information necessary for development of high quality programs
3. Reporting
  • Responsible for quality production of monthly program performance and IYCF reports from all nutrition program areas.
  • Responsible for undertaking reporting of nutrition assessment and other related periodic studies such as KAP surveys.
  • Support nutrition technical manager in development of donor reports
4. Representation
  • Participate in all filed level cluster and technical working group coordination meetings
  • Represent CARE in all inter agency nutrition assessments
5. Capacity building
  • Organize and provide trainings to partner staff, health workers and nutrition volunteers on nutrition related issues.
  • Provide in house capacity building to CARE program staff on aspects related to food security and nutrition integration.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • University degree in Nutrition, Public Health or other closely related fields
  • At least 3 years progressive experience in managing programs in conflict situations
  • Experience in setting up and running of CMAM program
  • Experience in devising and implementing IYCF interventions
  • Experience in planning and execution of SMART surveys as well as data management using relevant software.
  • Experience in proposal development and donor reporting
  • Experience organizing and facilitating training
  • Excellent communication skills-written and spoken
  • Fluency in English and Somali
  • Strong interpretation skills, creativity , flexibility, adaptability and empathy
  • Ability to plan and facilitate health based curriculum trainings/ workshop

Main Activities carried out
 
Supervision of Implementation of WASH focusing mainly on:
  1. Construction or rehabilitation of WASH infrastructure in target communities to improve access to WASH services particularly for the vulnerable groups;
  2. Capacity building of relevant local institutions and organizations to enhance capacities in Administration, Operation and Maintenance (AOM) of WASH services in the target areas;

Job Summary
 
Objective 1: Check the monthly accounts of the bases and those of the capital
  • Check the mission’s cash and bank balance
  • Check eligibility of invoices
  • At the end of each month, check the level of advances for each cash box
  • Verify recording of expenses in each cashbook
  • Edit comments on the accounting of each base monthly
  • Verify presentation of accounting vouchers
Objective 2: Consolidate the mission’s accounts monthly
  • Verify payment of rental agreements when they fall due and split the charges over the periods.
  • Verify that the staff data base is complete and updated
  • Update the depreciation files for the mission’s equipment and vehicles

  • Check validity of accounting data with the intermediary and final reports.
Objective 5: Supervise the team
  • Ensure training of cashiers and accountants on the mission;

INTERSOS Child Protection / IDTR Project Manager Job in Mogadishu, Somalia

Position: Child Protection / IDTR Project Manager
 
Duty station: Based in Mogadishu, Somalia with frequent travel to Baidoa, Galkayo and Nairobi, as well as Jowhar, Dhobley and Kismayo.

Background to INTERSOS: INTERSOS is a non-profit humanitarian aid organization that works to bring assistance to people in danger, victims of natural disasters and armed conflicts. 

Established in 1992 with support from the Italian Federation of Trade Unions, its actions are based on the values of solidarity, justice, human dignity, equal rights and opportunities for all people and respect for diversity and coexistence, paying particular attention to the most vulnerable and the unprotected.

In Somalia INTERSOS is active since 1992 responding to emergencies providing health, nutrition, protection, education and support for recovery of livelihoods.

Key Responsibilities:
 
The Child Protection/Information, Documentation, Tracing and Reunification (IDTR) Project Manager is responsible for implementation of INTESOS child protection programming in Somalia. 

She/he will provide technical and managerial oversight for project and other capacity building activities in INTERSOS operational locations covering at least 9 locations in Puntland and South Central Somalia.

Additionally, s/he will be involved in supporting and representing INTERSOS for coordination with the child protection working group in Nairobi and at the field level. 

Specifically, under supervision of the Protection Coordinator, he/she is responsible for:
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of the IDTR/Field Coordinator, Database Manager and IDTR teams located in 7 field offices in their daily programme activities;
  • Regularly support the IDTR case management process for unaccompanied and separated children (UASC). This will include providing IDTR/Case management technical support and ensuring regular information sharing among the IDTR/Child Protection teams based in the locations where INTERSOS run IDTR activities;
  • Use and manage the Inter-Agency Child Protection Information Management System (IACPIMS), support the Database Manager to prepare trend analysis for reporting on a monthly basis;
  • Coordinate and build relationships with child protection working groups (CPWGs) members, government authorities and agencies/organizations working in Somalia and neighbouring countries on IDTR;
  • Lead on developing and implementing national and cross-border IDTR SOPs;
  • Work with the field teams to designing and implement awareness campaigns and capacity building for formal and informal authorities for prevention of family separation and response for UASC;
  • Provide support and technical guidance on individual cases for the INTERSOS team and partners on the process of Best Interest determination (BID)/ Best Interests Assessment (BIA), including but not limited to on-the-job training for staff and partners;
  • Attend, organize, and chair BID Panels with CPWG and government actors;
  • With the support of other UNICEF staff, liaise with key government counterparts regarding the implementation of the project activities;
  • Regularly and active participate at the CPWG in Nairobi and CPWG in Mogadishu and co-chair the IDTR task force at the national level;
  • Design and support monitoring and evaluation for project activities, provide technical guidance for surveys and rapid assessments and conduct field monitoring missions;
  • Lead the documentation of project methodologies, lessons learned, and gather case studies;
  • Prepare project status reports required for management, budget review and monitor the expenditures and budget tracking ensuring cohesion with planning processes;
  • Actively participate in INTERSOS Protection working group through sharing of information, lessons learned, tools and methodologies;
  • Support INTERSOS Protection Department project development processes;
  • Perform other related duties as required by the Protection Coordinator.
Minimum qualification and professional experience
  • University degree in relevant area (e.g. child development, child psychology, social work, child education, human rights);
  • Two or more years work experience in child protection (including best interest determinations, community services, social work / counseling);, preferably including field experience in a humanitarian setting. 
  • Work experience in the Somali context is desirable;
  • Two or more years of experience in working with vulnerable children. 
  • Experience for technical guidance and practical implementation for SOPs and Best Interest Determination is desirable;
  • Proven experience conducting trainings for government officials, non-governmental organizations and/or in protection settings is essential. 
  • Experience in training of trainers is desirable;
  • Proven record of providing training and workshops on child protection specifically Best Interest Determination or Best Interest Assessment;
  • Excellent analytical, report writing and communication skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to establish effective working relations with local staff, beneficiaries and other stakeholders;
  • Ability to work in stressful situations and at times, in hardship field locations where INTERSOS offices are located;
  • Computer literate;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English. Somali language is an asset.
