Cooperazione Internazionale (COOPI) Water Technician Job in Baidoa, Southern Somalia

Organization: Cooperazione Internazionale (COOPI) is an International NGO founded in Italy and implementing programs with the focus to contribute to the process of fight against poverty and growth of the communities with which it cooperates with all over the world, intervening in situations of emergency, reconstruction and development.
 
Position: Water Technician
 
Reporting to: Project Engineer
 
Duration: 3 Months
 
Location: Baidoa District, Bay Region, Southern Somalia
 
Main Activities carried out
 
Supervision of Implementation of WASH focusing mainly on:
  1. Construction or rehabilitation of WASH infrastructure in target communities to improve access to WASH services particularly for the vulnerable groups;
  2. Capacity building of relevant local institutions and organizations to enhance capacities in Administration, Operation and Maintenance (AOM) of WASH services in the target areas;
  3. Hygiene and sanitation awareness promotion using participatory approaches to reduce incidence of WASH related diseases.
Key Tasks
  • Conduct technical assessments and identify suitable options for water and sanitation development interventions in collaboration with the communities;
  • Preparation of designs, technical drawings, specifications and BoQs;
  • Participate in all procedures related to procurement of works, supplies and services;
  • Supervise the project on going realizations at the sites according to the implementation contracts with contractors and communities; Supervision is done in collaboration with authorities and target groups;
  • Follow up works progress and ensure that technical designs and specifications are adhered to by the contractors / artisans/foremen;
  • Certify works that have been completed satisfactorily and in accordance to technical designs and specifications and authorize the issue of interim and completion certificates for payments as necessary.
  • Elaboration of training manuals for technical training and in particular Water management, Operation & Maintenance and Basic construction for local artisans trainings;
  • Conduct and/or participate in technical training for water users;
  • Reporting on progress of works.
Qualifications
  • Diploma in Water/Civil Engineering or equivalent;
  • Experience in design and supervision of construction of water and sanitation facilities;
  • Good communication, interpersonal, decision-making and organizational skills;
  • Good knowledge of English (spoken and written);
  • Computer skills;
  • Field experience in Somalia is an added advantage;
  • Knowledge of Somali language is an added advantage.

EDC Healthstrat Adolescent Health Project Technical Manager Job in Kenya

Responsibilities include:

Job Duties and Responsibilities
 
Receiving, filling and dispensing drugs and medical supplies as ordered or prescribed by a qualified medical practitioners
 
Clarification of prescription to patients and notification of any prescription errors to the prescriber
 
Explain to the patients the methods that each drug they will be taking shall be administered and label drugs with the correct dose
 
Ensuring prompt communication to clients of any therapeutic incompatibilities and potential drug interactions
 

Listen to walk-in patients and prescribe the appropriate drug or refer them to a doctor in more complicated cases and counsel them
 
Ensuring pharmacy equipments are kept in good working condition
 
Filling/storing prescriptions and maintaining them for the required number of years as guided by law

Reports To: Social Performance Advisor
 

Background In 2010, Tullow Oil Kenya embarked on a major exploration campaign across five Kenyan licence areas (Blocks 10BA, 10BB, 10A, 12A and 13T) covering over 67,000 sq km (six times the size of the licences in Uganda). In 2012, Tullow added additional interests in Block 12A and Block 12B.  

To date four wells have been drilled and an extensive seismic programme is underway within areas which are remote, environmentally very sensitive and conflict prone due to tribal conflict, water and food insecurity.  

Early exploration results indicate that there could possibly be future commercialisation of Kenya’s Northern oil resources.  In order to be successful, ongoing exploration and appraisal activities combined with future development planning will require unfettered access to land within Tullow’s acreage.  

Appropriately managing ongoing access to land in a responsible and timely manner is a critical activity for both operations and social performance.  

Job Purpose: 

The Tullow Oil Kenya Technical Assistant, Land Access will be based in Nairobi with regular travel to Tullow’s acreage in North West Kenya and is responsible for supporting the development and execution of Tullow Oil Kenya’s Land Access Framework.  
 
The Technical Assistant will report to the Nairobi based Social Performance Advisor and will contribute to business unit success by ensuring that Tullow Oil has a robust land access framework which facilitates unfettered access to land for ongoing exploration and appraisal, as well as early development activities. 

Key to this role will be working closely with legal, EHS, operations and development to ensure that a ‘fit-for-purpose’ framework which accounts for domestic legislation, Tullow Oil Social Performance Standards and international standards is developed and executed in an efficient and timely fashion.  

This work will be a critical input to Social Investment Strategy as it relates to livelihood support issues.  This position will also be the key point of contact internally for land related matters and will coordinate the Tullow Oil Kenya land access taskforce. 

Responsibilities /Key Objectives:
 
Land Framework
  • In cooperation with legal provide input into national legislative and regulatory frameworks as they pertain to community land and access for oil industry activities. 
  • In cooperation with key functions, develop an integrated Tullow Oil Kenya Land Access Framework which accounts for (but not necessarily limited to):
  1. National legislation and regulation
  2. Local County procedures
  3. International standards
  4. Land tenure and land use rights
  5. Public disclosure and consultation
  6. Valuation and compensation
  7. Economic and physical displacement
  8. Cultural Heritage
  9. Spatial services
  • In cooperation with the Environmental team, input into the scoping and review of Environmental & Social Impact Assessments (and associated management plans) to ensure matters associated with land access and / or acquisition are appropriately accounted for.
  • Provide technical land management input into the design, development and implementation of the Borealis Information Management System.
  • Cooperate with Tullow Oil GIS to ensure the effective integration of land issues into spatial services to inform engineering design.
  • Coordinate the Tullow Oil Kenya Land Access taskforce and ensure agreed actions are executed in a timely fashion. 
External Stakeholder Engagement & Grievance Management
  • As requested, support the site based Social Performance & EHS teams in executing stakeholder and community consultation activities in accordance with regulatory and IFC requirements for stakeholder relationship management.
  • Support the timely resolution of stakeholder and community grievances, particularly where this involves issues pertaining to land grievances.   
  • Represent Tullow Kenya at key engagements as requested
Experience and Education:
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a land based role (surveying, town / rural planning and infrastructure development).
  • Strong track record in building successful relationships and securing alignment between multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience in relationship management, negotiations, and conflict resolution.
  • Solid understanding of international best practice/standards in this area.  Particularly as they pertain to land access & acquisition, economic and physical displacement
  • Extensive experience in the application of national and local land legislation / regulations and procedures.
  • Heightened appreciation of the social, cultural and environmental aspects of land access and management.
  • Proven track record of planning.
  • Ability to translate complex information into strong, easily delivered messages, including the ability to influence, inspire confidence and build trust at all levels.
  • Proven ability to manage complex matters in a transparent and inclusive fashion. 
  • Ability to integrate land issues into business and project planning as required. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to manage conflict situations including conflict resolution and analysis.

  • Management of the quality of overall deliverables and pursuit strategy throughout the whole sales process.
  • Work closely with Solutions Engineers to perform presales feasibility assessments of how well the company’s solutions meet the customer requirements and what customization would be required.
  • Building and maintaining strategic account plans for focus accounts.
  • Understand, engage and develop relationships with other partners engaged within Customer base.
  • Engage with channel partners to find and develop new opportunities.
  • Responsible for adhering to company security policies and procedure as directed.
Education and Experience Required:
  • College diploma/Degree required or equivalent work experience

Tele-Sales Assistant (Lady)
 
Purpose: maximize the effectiveness of the Corporate Account managers by producing high quality leads and working as a team towards agreed set targets and profitability goals. 

To provide a high level of sales support by ensuring all queries are responded to in an efficient, professional and timely manner.

Key Role:
  • Identify opportunities, produce leads and book appointments for the sales force with the emphasis on high quality leads.
  • Develop creative pitches and propositions aimed at specific industry sectors
  • Proactively follow up leads generated from canvassing by the account managers.
  • Use of initiative to identify and follow up opportunities with companies who are not already on the database.
  • Manage the database to a high degree of accuracy to ensure targeted marketing activity can take place to generate new business
  • Work closely with the marketing team to achieve sales  objectives
  • Negotiate commercial terms within set guidelines
  • Attend monthly meetings with the Corporate Account Managers  to update information and discuss any issues
  • Contribute to the team performance by sharing and implementing Best Practice Ideas.
Education and Experience Required:
