Due to rapid growth, the organization is looking to fill an Account Manager Position

Job Location; Nairobi

Purpose:

Business account and product management in designated region (business team)

Roles:

  • Full responsibility for all business aspects of assigned customers (active/non-active).
  • Provides tailor-made commercial support to assigned customers.
  • Collects/analyses data on market information (e.g. products/ customers/competitors) on a constant basis.
  • Conducts sales negotiations
  • Communicate supply shortage/allocation to affected customers.
  • Adherence to and compliance with all organization guidelines and procedures
  • All requirements of the function are carried out timely and effectively within the department.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Will be in charge of the entire organization  customer portfolio in Eastern Africa.
  • Acting as first/single point of contact for organization
  • Regular travelling required for customer visits (proper cost/benefit awareness)
  • Manage price negotiations according to KU marketing guidance.
  • Communicate internally customer needs, both from a technical and commercial point of view, in the appropriate form (e.g. visit reports).
  • Pro-actively conducts/collects market intelligence/relevant information (especially on customer/PU consumer level).
  • Support technical visits (of experts) and establishes/sustains/develops customer relationships.
  • Interacts as team player (multi-)cultural aware, commercially meaningful, rational/fair, and technically sound.
  • Participation in Sales/ regional organization Meetings

Education / Qualifications

Essential:

  • Chemical Engineering or Industrial Chemistry; alternatively, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.

Advantage:

  •     MBA with sales experience

Experience

Essential:

  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in plastics or chemical industry, preferably in technical, commercial and production areas.
  • Computer literate – Microsoft Office (Intermediary level).
  • Strong communication and people skills.
  • Well organized, meticulous and able to plan and prioritize activities.
  • Perform well under pressure.
  • Able to work as an integral member of a team as well as individually.
  • Sound communication and negotiation skills/ passion.
  • Proficiency in English & local language.

Preferred:

  • Previous sales experience in the chemical industry.

Other

  • Valid driver’s license and own vehicle.
  • Willingness and ability to travel.
  • Ability to work overtime where required.
