The Centre for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education in Africa (CEMASTEA) is an institution under the Ministry of Education that offers In-Service Education and Training (INSET) for Mathematics and Science Teachers in Kenya.

The Centre also serves as a Regional INSET Centre for Strengthening of Mathematics and Science Education in Western, Eastern, Central and Southern Africa (SMASE WECSA) for 34 African countries. The Cook will;
  • Observe Health and Safety Standards in work areas;
  • Prepare, Produce, hold and serve food;
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
Minimum Requirements
  • Certificate in Food and Beverage Production or Institutional Management or any other equivalent qualification;
  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade C- (minus);
  • Previously served as Cook in a comparable position for at least (3) years; and
  • A Certificate of good health.

Supply Chain Assistant I (Storekeeper)

The Supply Chain Assistant I, will be responsible for;
  • Coordinating the purchase of supplies for the department with vendors;
  • Maintain a filing system in accordance with internal procedures;
  • Maintain office supply inventories and order supplies as necessary;
  • Receive approved requisitions and prepare and dispatch LPO’s as needed for goods and services;
  • Maintaining registers of Receipt and issued stores from the central store;
  • Carrying out stocktaking of stores; Issuing and rationing of stores;
  • Identifying of unserviceable stores/ or other stores for disposal.
Minimum Requirements
  • Diploma in Supplies Management or its equivalent qualification;
  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade C-(minus) with a minimum of C- in Mathematics and English or Kiswahili or its equivalent;
  • At least 3 years Procuring experience;
  • Proficiency in computer applications.

The Internal Auditor will;
  • Ensure that all financial transactions are in compliance with established policies and practices;
  • Ensure that internal control systems are adequate;
  • Ensure that assets are efficiently utilized and safeguarded;
  • Audit the Centre’s books of accounts;
  • Audit all payments vouchers for all financial obligations before funds are released for payment; and
  • Prepare annual reports for all audited accounts.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor of Commerce degree (Accounting/Finance option)
  • CPA I and above;
  • Should have served as an Auditor in a comparable and relevant position in a Public/ Private Institution for a minimum period of three (3) years;
  • Should be proficient in computer use and its applications.

Accounts Assistant

The Accounts Assistant will be responsible for;
  • Collection of funds from the Centre’s income generating activities;
  • Maintenance of cash ledgers and general accounts reconciliations;
  • Preparation of payment vouchers and making authorized payments;
  • Maintenance of an efficient filing system of payment vouchers, receipts and invoices.
Minimum Requirements
  • CPA ( II) and above or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade C (Plain) or its equivalent;
  • At least two (2) years’ experience in a similar organisation;
  • Should be proficient in computerized accounting.

The Housekeeper/Cateress will be responsible for:
  • Ensuring cleanliness and sanitation of catering and hostel facilities;
  • Management of Catering and Laundry Services;
  • Maintenance of furnishing linen, furniture, beddings;
  • Looking into the general welfare of guests, staff and/or patrons;
  • Inducting the stewards and Linen Assistants;
  • Controlling stock and inventory of the Kitchen store;

The Driver will;
  • Drive a motor vehicle as authorized;
  • Carry out routine checks on the vehicle’s cooling, oil, electrical and brake systems, tyre pressure etc; detecting and reporting malfunctioning of vehicle systems;
  • Maintain the work tickets for vehicles assigned;
  • Ensure safety of the vehicle on and off the road;
  • Ensure safety of the passengers and/of goods therein;
  • Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle;
  • Messengerial duties as may be assigned; and
  • Any other official duty that may be assigned from time to time;
  • A certificate in mechanics will be an added advantage.
Minimum Requirements
  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade D (plain);
  • Passed Suitability Test for Driver grade III;
  • A valid Driving License free from any current endorsement for classes of vehicles an officer is required to drive;
  • Have attended a first Aid certificate course lasting not less than one week at St. Johns or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology or any other recognized institution;
  • A valid certificate of good conduct from the Kenya Police; and
  • At least two (2) years driving experience.

The Caretaker will:
  • Coordinating the maintenance of infrastructure and utilities;
  • Coordinating renovations of buildings and other physical infrastructure within the institute;
  • Update and maintain records of all the institutes property;
  • Planning, organizing and coordinating of sound security system and procedures to protect the Centre;
  • Inspect firefighting equipment and fire alarm systems to ensure that they are in good condition;
  • Advice management on necessary security action and equipment required.
  • Checking maintenance of cleanliness in all buildings.
Requirements
  • Holder of a Diploma in Civil Engineering or Building Economics or its equivalent;
  • Basic training in security matters;
  • Three (3) years’ experience in a similar position;
  • Attendance of a safety course from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
