Nutrition Nurses, Public Health Officers and M&E Officers Jobs in Kenya - International Medical Corps

International Medical Corps (IMC) us a global humanitarian non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life through health care interventions and related activities that build local capacity in hard to reach areas.

International Medical Corps currently implements projects in various districts in Kenya. IMC is seeking candidates to fill the following positions in our Nutrition Programs in the above Districts. These are short term contracts of (4 to 9 Months) that need to be filled immediately.

IMC also seeks candidates for the position of Monitoring and Evaluation officer for Prisons HIV / AIDS and TB program to be based in Nairobi with frequent travel to field sites.

Nutrition Nurses
(Samburu 3; Isiolo 2; Laikipia 2; Tana River 2; Meru North 3)
  • Participate / lead in assessments and nutrition surveillance.
  • Ensure the smooth running of Nutrition project activities at sites through provision of nutritional screening, counseling, treatment/preventative services and on-job training and guidance of health workers and volunteers.
  • Maintain records of anthropometric measurements and treatment at health facility sites and office.
  • Facilitate On the Job trainings for Health care workers and CHW, screening, active case finding, defaulter tracing and referral of and management of malnourished.
  • Supervision of CHWs in community mobilization and dissemination of health/nutrition education and hygiene promotion messages.
  • Create referral linkages for malnourished individuals with medical complications.
  • Supervision of Mother Care /Support Groups to promote appropriate Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) practices.
  • Maintain professional working relationship with relevant district authorities and partners.
  • Provide written reports.
  • Any other duty as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Must have a Minimum qualification of a diploma in Nutrition or Nursing.
  • Registered with the relevant professional body.
  • At least 2 years working with NGOs/ UN agencies in complex emergency context.
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience working in emergency nutrition program in a limited resource setting.
  • Conversant with IMAM & IYCF and OJT process
  • Strong negotiation and representational skills.
  • Excellent team building, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in nutritional surveillance, report writing, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Fluency in the local dialects and understanding of the local environment is an added advantage.
  • Experience in capacity building MOH staff

Public Health Officers

4 Positions
  • Assess and report on WASH situation in health centers, schools, CMAM centers and drought affected community.
  • Coordinate with DWO/DPHO for rehabilitation/Repairs to WASH infrastructure
  • Support DWO/DPHOs plan, for rehabilitation/repairs to WASH Infrastructure
  • Support DWO/DPHOs to plan and monitor distribution of WASH, IEC materials.
  • Provide planning an technical support for Training of CHWs on Hygiene promotion and HWTs
  • Support planning and monitoring of Rapid Hygiene Promotion Campaigns
  • Support DPHO/CHWs to Plan and monitor outreach activities
  • To mobilize, and train Community groups on Hygiene promotion and HWTs
  • Establishment of supply chain links for HWTs supplies
Qualifications
  • Strong back ground in and conversancy of Public health needs in project areas with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in public health in Arid and Semi-arid areas.
  • Understanding of community nutrition programs.
  • Minimum academic qualification of a diploma in public health
  • Strong presentation skills at the district and provincial level with excellent orientation of the Public health department/Ministry.
  • Excellent team building/working skills, strong personal and interpersonal skills with demonstrated coordination, leadership and supervisory excellence.
  • Good field work skills with good understanding of organization’s project area.

M & E Officer

Based in Nairobi – One Year Contract, Renewable

Responsibilities:

Under supervision of program Director, perform the following tasks:
  • Coordinate capacity building for program staff on monitoring and Evaluation
  • Supportive supervision visits to health facilities to monitor implementation and mentorship on data management including completeness of registers and reporting tools.
  • Coordinate health service data collection, analysis, interpretation and reporting.
  • Plan and undertake routine data quality audits at supported health facilities and report on findings
  • Play a key role in coordinating the planning, implementation and dissemination of findings of all facility level needs assessments.
  • Preparation of monthly, semi annual and annual progress reports for submission to CDC and other donor agencies.
  • Write technical reports for ongoing programs to share internally and with the donors.
  • Represent International Medical Corps on M&E forums in the country
  • Liaise and network with other partners including CDC, MOH and other implementing partners on M & E issues.
Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree (Masters degree in public health will be added advantage)
  • Training in Monitoring and evaluation
  • At least 4 years of working as Monitoring and Evaluation officer in PEPFAR funded HIV/AIDS and TB program
  • Trainer of Trainers in any HIV/AIDS and TB program areas using teach-back methodology
  • Knowledge of data analysis software like SPSS and/ or STATA
  • Fluency in English, Kiswahili
