A leading private sector organization seeks to recruit a Research Manager.
The Research Manager will strengthen the capacity of marketing and programme staff to interpret and utilize the results of Qualitative research for purposes of evidence-based decision making.
You will work closely with research agencies to implement research activities in Kenya, while maintaining responsibility for the design of the research according to the organisations methodologies and, ultimately the quality of the research products. You will also work closely with health programs to ensure that the research findings assist them with decision making.
Responsibilities
- Develop study designs, sampling strategies, and questionnaires or discussion guides for qualitative studies;
- Develop study designs according to established methodologies of the organization;
- Support programme and marketing staff to identify research needed to design, monitor and evaluate the organization’s social marketing programmes;
- Support the organization’s marketing and communication staff to build their skills in interpreting research results and using a research-to-action approach to guide programmatic decisions and activities;
- Work closely with research coordinator and research agency staff in implementing research activities, ensuring overall quality of the data and adherence to study design;
- Write reports appropriate for external dissemination and publication and ensure that research is disseminated nationally and regionally.
Requirements
- Masters degree, with experience in public health, behavioral sciences, population studies, or a related field plus 5 years relevant working experience in research environment.
- Demonstrated ability to build research capacity of staff of varied levels of experience;
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent studies;
- Experience in the design, management, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of behavioral research in public health;
- Experience in the implementation of qualitative methods;
- Proficiency in qualitative analysis of data using Atlas PI or Nudist NVIVO preferred;
- Demonstrated ability to inform programmatic decisions using research and routine monitoring data.
- Sound knowledge of public health issues, particularly in Condom social marketing, HIV communication, Family planning, Safe water and Malaria.
- Have familiarity with the international donor community.
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills
