Job: Adherence Psychosocial and Community (Apsc) Advisor

Overall Job Function:
A key member of the CHS technical staff involved in the implementation of HIV Prevention activities. Specifically, the APSC advisor is responsible for providing technical support to the implementation of adherence; psychosocial support interventions as well as strengthening linkages with communities within CHS supported regions in coordination with the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation.
Major duties and responsibilities:
  • To oversee the planning, initiation and implementation of adherence and psychosocial support activities in supported health facilities
  • To oversee the planning, initiation and implementation of support for community units in supported regions
  • To oversee the implementation of targeted psychosocial support interventions to target groups e.g. adolescents, male involvement, pediatrics
  • To represent CHS in related stakeholder forums and technical working groups
  • To prepare detailed work plans, coordinate documentation of key activities and program reports
  • Provide leadership in the design and coordination of the training activities in adherence support for community health workers and PLWHA.
  • Ensure training of HCW in Adherence support using the national training curriculum
  • To provide technical assistance to health care facilities for planning,  implementation and evaluation of patient tracing systems and related data management, data quality assurance, data summarization and analysis
  • To liaise with Adherence and Psychosocial Support Officers to strengthen adherence, psychosocial support and defaulter tracing activities
  • Work closely with the Adherence and Psychosocial Support Officers to strengthen HIV community mobilization activities and linkages with community based structures
  • To work with the NASCOP APS working group in coordinating implementation of APS activities as per the national guidelines
Requirements:
  • Degree in Social Sciences or equivalent
  • Minimum 4 year’s relevant experience
  • Familiarity with district level health systems
  • Familiarity with HIV community programs including Peer Education
  • Excellent management abilities within multi-disciplinary team, support, training
