IRC is seeking for qualified South Sudan Nationals for the following position:
Job Title: Midwife
Location Ganyliel (Unity State)
Scope:
The Midwife will be responsible for handling all mothers in the antenatal, perinatal and postnatal stages of pregnancy in addition to providing family planning services.
Main Duties:
- Conduct Antenatal care services – Physical examination; counselling on birth plan, child-spacing, nutrition and breast feeding; IPT; LLITN distribution; administration of Tetanus toxoid, haematinics and de-worming.
- Conduct deliveries at the health facility level, while being able to detect early signs of abnormalities in both the mother and the baby and taking appropriate action.
- Perform Post-natal services – Physical examination; administration of Vitamin A; counselling on child-spacing, nutrition, child health and exclusive breast feeding.
- Carry out Growth Monitoring services on children under five years.
- Conduct Home visits.
- Manage essential drugs and medical supplies efficiently.
- Promote health education Collect, collate and use data accurately.
- Carry out any other duty that will be assigned by your supervisor or as will need will arise
Reporting:
- Maintain up to date records on above functions for provision of reports to supervisor as requested.
Systems Compliance and Improvement: IRC-Sudan wide and Southern Sudan specific finance, logistics, IT, security, communications and human resource/administration policies and procedures. Any new procedures and guidelines designated in circulars from Deputy Country Representative and DDO.
Policy compliance – Mandatory Reporting Policy (MRP): Ensure any violations of the IRC Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Code of Conduct are reported to the DCR. The reporting of violations is an obligation on the part of all staff members. Assist where necessary in undertaking activities that aim to prevent the occurrence of sexual abuse and exploitation of beneficiaries by IRC and other humanitarian workers Play a key role in planning and rolling out training of and adherence to MRPs in coordination with the MRP focal team/person within country program.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: Has certificate as Laboratory Technician from a recognized training institution. Possess good English communication skills, both in speech and in writing. Working experience of at least two years
