Headmaster and Deputy Headmaster Jobs in Kenya - Private Primary School


An established leading Private Primary school offering the 8-4-4 system of education is looking for a mature, academically qualified, experienced, energetic Headmaster and Deputy Headmaster aged 32 years and above to take up the above positions.

Key Responsibilities: Headmaster
  • Relationship with the Board, Management, Teachers, Support staff, students and parents.
  • Key contributor to the school Policy and Strategy formulation.
  • She/he will set the academic tone, evaluate and help improve the skills of teachers and other staff. S/he will confer with staff to advise, explain or answer procedural questions.
  • They actively work with teachers to develop and maintain high curriculum standards; and set performance goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for school overall performance and achievements.
  • She/he prepares annual budgets and reports on various subjects.
  • Budget Management/Monitoring.
  • Capacity building of teachers and support staff.
  • Managerial duties which include ensuring the staff personnel files are streamlined and that all staff have valid contracts and job descriptions, and that they understand them.
  • Generation and distribution of weekly reports to the School Directors and Senior Management Team.
  • Develop any other relevant reports for senior management and the Board of Directors.
Key Responsibilities: Deputy Headmaster
  • Assistant to the Headmaster.
  • Exemplary practitioner, with an exceptional track record of promoting pupil progress.
  • Monitor and evaluate pupil achievement and attainment throughout the school.
  • Co-ordinate and support subject teachers in the development and implementation of curricular initiatives.
  • Is an inspirational and excellent classroom practitioner with a commitment to making learning exciting and raising the levels of achievement.
  • Able to accurately self-evaluate, analyze and plan, in order to address areas for improvement.
  • Has an excellent interpersonal skill with the ability to inspire, lead and motivate others to bring about improvement.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
  • Experience in such a position of not less than 5 years.
  • Be able to perform a variety of duties often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
  • Must work independently.
  • Leadership skills and able to relate to others in a manner that creates a sense of teamwork and cooperation.
  • Must be computer literate and able to prepare documents using Excel and Word.
  • Minimum qualification: Certified P1 Teacher from a reputable learning institution.
  • Experienced Head of Departments/subjects are encouraged to apply.
