Production Manager, Soaps Job in Uganda

The company is looking for a Production Manager, Soaps in its Uganda based operations.
Reporting to the Business Unit Manager the Production Manager, Soaps will implement all the manufacturing policies and procedures to ensure maximum capacity utilization of the units so as to achieve the group’s strategy, growth and profit objectives

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the entire operations of the soap manufacturing plant.
  • Review and update all the procedures used in the soap manufacturing section.
  • Ensure the products being manufactured meet the company’s standards, policies and practices.
  • Accountable for the quality and carrying out the responsibilities related to the section operations.
  • Engage in annual business planning and budgeting of the manufacturing plant.
  • In liaison with senior management, ensure that production objectives are being met.
  • Ensure budget under control in line with the company’s standard practices.
  • Determine the manpower requirements, supervise and appraise staff.
  • Set short and long term plans inorder to increase the efficiency and profitability of the plant
  • Prepare weekly manufacturing reports.
Qualification and experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree preferably in production engineering or industrial chemistry or any other related field.
  • Additional qualification in management and knowledge about industry principles is an added advantage
  • 5 years working experience in a big manufacturing firm
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Should have very good organizational and communication skills.
  • Should be a problem solver
  • Proficiency in financial matters i.e. budget planning for the plant
  • Familiarity with industrial computer systems, motor control, PLCs and DCSs.
