International Institute for Rural Reconstruction Assistant Accountant Job in Uganda


Background information
 
The International Institute for Rural Reconstruction is an international development, research and training organization with over 80 years of grassroots experience working in peoplecentered and sustainable development programs in Africa and Asia. 

IIRR is well reputed for its knowledge management capacity through documentation of best development-oriented practices, and is seeking to strengthen its Finance and Human Resource Administration activities in Uganda by appointing an Assistant Accountant.
   
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
 
The post holder will work closely with Uganda Country Director to:
  • Posting of transactions in the organization’s  Quickbooks  accounting system
  • Preparation of  project financial reports as well as management reports in a timely manner
  • Process payments ensuring all relevant supporting documentation and authorization.
  • Processing staff travel imprest and subsequent accounting thereof.
  • Preparation of accurate monthly payroll and ensuring that PAYE and NSSF are properly deducted and returns submitted promptly
  • Receipting of all fund and reconciling the bank accounts on a monthly basis
  • Providing support to field finance and administrative staff, and work closely with them to ensure that financial information is presented in an accurate and timely manner.
Administrative Duties:
  • Assist in the Management of IIRR office,  maintaining and developing an effective filing system electronic and paper
  • Ensuring that all office and personnel insurances policies are up to date, and in accordance to IIRR’s guidelines
  • Providing all logistical support and arrangements
  • Coordinating regular reporting to and from Uganda and Nairobi offices
  • Ensuring that IIRR Human Resource policies and procedures are available.
Minimum Requirements
  • A minimum of first-degree in a business related field  and  a minimum of CPA II or ACCA Part 2
  • At least 4 years of experience in an International NGO and set up
  • Experience in managing donor-funded projects
  • Experience in administrative functions of an organization.
  • Working and excellent knowledge of QuickBooks.
