Vacancy Announcement – Collateral Manager

Dynamic People Consulting is recruiting a Collateral Manager for one of its clients in the banking industry, The bank provides banking and insurance products and services to retail, commercial, corporate and public sector customers in South Africa and several African countries.

The Collateral Manager will be responsible for the following:
  • Responsible for marketing the soft and hard Structured Trade and Commodity Finance Market products to new and existing client bases;
  • Responsible for inspecting, accrediting and auditing all African clients as per the credit approvals prescription;
  • Conduct inspections and ensure clients are act within the legal requirements of the transaction;
  • Ensure that controls remain intact through continues measurement;
  • Market and lead generation to transactors to increase new business;
  • Accredit new facilities, ensuring all risk components are addressed and mitigated;
  • Carry out ad-hoc audits and client visits to ensure optimum control;
  • Identify any potential risks of storing commodity at clients facilities;
  • Ensure that stock reports of the bank correlates to actual stock at the premises;
  • Manage, appoint, control and evaluate external collateral managers and monitors;
  • Conduct continuous rating of clients operations and facilities;
  • Compile reports on client facilities and provide feedback to credit committee;
  • Present client evaluation reports to credit from time to time;
  • Interact with transactors and the transaction management team.
The successful candidate should have the following qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in relevant field;
  • Five (5) years working experience with at least three years in logistics and two years in finance or audit;
  • Experience in the field as a collateral manager;
  • Strong understanding of logistics, clearing and forwarding, imports and exports, warehousing and collateral management;
  • Experience working in Africa and a strong understanding of the environment;
  • In-depth knowledge of the industry, commodities and associated risk;
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and clearing requirements;
  • Ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and written) at all levels;
  • Results oriented with sound Business judgment and a high level of Integrity;
  • Good people skills with an ability to build strong relationships with team and customers;
  • Accountability and ownership;
  • Willing to travel frequently (up to 50% travel);
  • Build strong, reliable relationship with clients.
