Project Engineer Job in Construction Company in Kenya


A well established construction company with Projects in various parts of the country wishes to recruit a qualified Project Engineer.

The successful candidate, based in Nairobi with frequent travel to Project Sites, will work in liaison with the Technical team both at Head office and Project Sites with respect to the various projects to ensure proper implementation of related activities and programmes that fit in our expansion plans.   

Responsibilities
  • Draft Technical Correspondence letters to clients; Drafting contract administration correspondence
  • Preparation of Tenders;
  • Counterchecking and interpreting the Engineering designs and drawings done by external consultants
  • Assisting the Quantity Surveyors in preparation of Engineering Specifications
  • Assist the Technical Manager in supervision of on-going projects during construction and attending site meetings
  • Assist in the coordination of pricing, estimating, scoping strategies for proposed projects and in the development and preparation of technical specifications.
  • Prepare civil works designs, drawings, plans and specifications for projects, engineered systems, technical equipment or components.
  • Assist in client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects.
  • Prepare design computations and quantity estimates.
  • Assist in the preparation or modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies, permits and designs for project etc.
  • Interpreting clients' requirements, identifying and addressing design parameters and engineering problems and ensuring solutions are implemented.
  • Ensuring all justifications for contractual variations during projects are maintained to support subsequent commercial claims.
  • Any other Duties assigned by the Technical Manager.

Education and Experience
  • Minimum B.Sc. Engineering (Civil).
  • At least 5 years experience working as a project engineer or equivalent.
  • Computer skills – MS Office, AutoCAD etc.
Essential
  • Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management.
  • Knowledge of project management techniques and tools.
  • Proven knowledge and experience in contract management.
