IRC Kenya is currently
preparing a proposal in response to a USAID-funded request for applications to
increase the entry and growth of women-owned and women managed small and medium
enterprises (SME’s) and generate learning in the field regarding what works and
why under the Women’s Leadership in Small and Medium Enterprises (WLSME) pilot
research program.
Applications
are invited for the following positions;
1. Research and Learning Coordinator
- Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) is a rapidly growing, global organization with operations in over 40 countries.
- IPA designs innovative, cutting-edge approaches to solving development problems, rigorously evaluates these programs, and promotes the adoption of those with proven impact.
- IRC and IPA are recruiting a Research and Learning Coordinator, who will assist with all aspects of the
- implementation of the evaluation of IRC’s WLSME program.
- The Research and Learning Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the implementation of all aspects of the evaluation, including sample frame construction, design and testing of survey instruments, management of the data collection teams, data quality assurance, and preliminary data analysis
Minimum
requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in social sciences, such as international development, economics, sociology, political science, statistics, or public policy;
- Experience with quantitative and qualitative research and evaluation preferred;
- Two or more years of experience working in research, monitoring, and/or knowledge management in developing countries;
- Demonstrated skills and experience working and collaborating with international and local non-profit organizations;
- Ability and interest to work with a diverse and multicultural team in a collaborative, respectful and culturally-appropriate manner;
- Solid understanding of the Kenyan context (previous experience in Kenya preferred);
2. Program Manager
The
Program Manager is responsible for ensuring that the Women’s Leadership in
Small and Medium Enterprises (WLSME) project is implemented in accordance with
the cooperative agreement, USAID regulations, and internationally recognized
quality of assistance standards.
He/she
will be responsible for ensuring project activities, targets and outcomes are
all running according to plan, liaising between the research partner and other
local partners supporting project implementation.
Minimum Requirements:
- Masters in Social Sciences, social work, international relations, economics, finance, business, or other related area required
- At least 5 years experience in designing, implementing and managing related development programs, preferably in a Economic Recovery and Development context
- At least 3 years of experience working on gender related issues
- Previous experience as Program Manager of USAID-funded programs preferred
- Previous experience supervising and managing a multi-disciplinary team including strong research component
- Experience working in East Africa, a solid understanding of the Kenyan context; previous experience in Kenya preferred
