Marketing Manager (East Africa) Job in Nairobi Kenya


Job Title: Marketing Manager - East Africa
 
Reports To: Regional Director East Africa

Direct Reports: 2 – Promotions & Events Manager and a Brand Ambassador

The company is primarily focused on premium spirits (the high-margin segment of the industry), and has leading premium brands in all key spirits categories.

 The company seeks to establish itself in East, Central and sub-Saharan Africa with its head office Kenya (Nairobi).

Overall purpose of role/summary of key responsibilities:
  • Drive the long term direction and performance of the company’s brand portfolio in the Kenyan and East African markets, through the development of brand strategies and marketing programmes, as well as the execution of these programmes in the region.
  • Management of A&P budget for the each of the company’s brands in both the Kenyan domestic and duty free market, as well as the East African region domestic and duty free markets.
  • To effectively manage and develop the Promotions & Events Manager for Kenya, as well as the product Brand Ambassador for Kenya.
Key Internal Relationships:
  • Sales Department – for input on market/area relevant marketing strategies helping the sales force drive the volumes of our brands.
  • Area Manager East Africa – collaboration with the Area Manager EA in developing marketing solutions for the EA markets.
  • Finance Manager – setting up effective ways to manage payment of suppliers and sponsorships.
  • The company’s Sub Saharan Africa (PR SSA) Central Marketing Team – for pan regional marketing solutions.
  • The company’s SSA Hatari Team – for New Product Development (NPD) & innovation throughout the region.
  • The company’s SSA Business Development Director – consumer research projects.
  • The company’s Brand Companies.
Key External Relationships:
  • Agencies (advertising, public relations, promotions, digital) – briefing, day to day liaison, agree project fees, plus lead management of relationship between the company’s and agencies.
  • Image/Premium On-Trade – to be recognized as the person the premium On-Trade in the market need to engage with in order to drive sponsorships, events, etc.
Detailed description of key tasks including decision making authority:
  • Lead the planning process for the company’s portfolio of brand in the market, and develop major strategic documents (Three Year Plan, Brand Plans, Brand Reviews).
  • Initiate & manage below-the-line (off-trade, on-trade, wholesale, secondary packaging) & ATL (advertising & PR) projects with high degree of autonomy.
  • Propose and manage A&P budgets, providing regular budget updates and forecasts throughout the year, and re-allocate budgets between brands as needed throughout the year.
  • Take responsibility for day to day management of direct reports and their training and development needs.
  • Be lead in driving the development of the company’s brands in the markets key image/premium On-Trade outlets, this will be done with the assistance of your direct reports.
  • Organising & facilitating consumer research projects that will serve the PR Kenya business.

Desirable
  • Experience in the promotions and events industry.

  • Knowledge of the premium On-Trade and how it works.
Qualifications required:
 
Essential: Tertiary Qualification
 
Desirable: Marketing/business qualification

  • Strong IT skills (Microsoft Word – basic level, Excel and Power point – advanced level, Outlook)
