I Choose Life – Africa (ICL) is one of the leading Non-Governmental Organizations that has contributed greatly to Sexual Reproductive Health efforts among the youth in Kenya today. 

The organization works closely with the government, universities, communities and has programs in over 210 institutions (tertiary institutions and high schools) across 16 Counties in Kenya and reaches over 1 million youth annually with behavior change communication messages.

I Choose Life Africa seek to recruit a Program Manager who will be based in Kericho and who will report to Project Coordinator.

Job purpose: To contribute towards a sustained change in sexual behavior of communities and students at educational institution through training, outreach and behavioral intervention through ensuring effective management of the project design, monitoring of its implementation of the project plan and activities in order to ensure timely, cost effective and sustainability of program activities. 

S/he will further oversee the CT static sites, outreach and training activities for youth, MARPS and the general population with targeted evidence based interventions. 

In addition, support counties in the actualization of their county strategic plans aligned to Vision 2030.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
 
Program Initiation: Programming, identification, formulation and Design
  • Conduct a SWOT analysis alongside the M&E and Resource Mobilization department to identify national and donor priorities (areas of need)
  • In consultation with key stakeholders, identify key issues to be addressed, and the strategies thereof
  • Develop feasible and sustainable operational plans that can generate funding
Program Planning: Recruitment, Induction and  staff deployment
  • Participate in the recruitment, induction and deployment of the project staff in line with the policies of ICL
  • Coordinate the project planning process including creating  Project, Resource, Financial, Quality, Risk and Reporting plans
Program implementation
  • Supervise staff in region to enhance delivery of targets.
  • Manage the project implementation through supervising program staff.
  • Manage information and relations with beneficiaries and key stakeholders
  • Coordination all program activities including preparation of work plans
  • In collaboration with the M&E Officer and/or Project Accountant collate data on project activities and write either Financial or M& E reports.
  • Create partnerships within the program for the attainment of program goals.
  • Ensures program documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately
  • Resource Mobilization and Sustainability
  • Take part in resource mobilization through participation in proposal development with other program staff i.e. finance
  • Design, implement and evaluate projects with an aspect of resource mobilization
Program Monitoring, Evaluation & Control
  • Participate in reviewing the goals and objectives as set out in the scope of work
  • Review compiled reports (narrative and data) submitted by M&E Officer.
  • In accordance with donor requirements, create or maintain procedures for capturing monthly, quarterly and annual program technical and financial reports
Any other duties and responsibilities in line with project Management

Education and Training
  • The ideal candidate should have a Bachelors Degree in Project management, sociology or any other related field.
  • A masters Degree in sociology, project management or any other related field will be added advantage
  • Professional qualifications in project management, leadership & management, organizational development, monitoring & evaluation or strategic planning.
  • Trained in some of the HIV prevention evidence based interventions such as HCI & HCII, FMP and CPWP.
Experience, Skills and Abilities
  • Minimum 3 years hands on experience in project management related to HIV and AIDS  PEPFAR funded programs
  • S/He should also have experience in capacity building, operations research, monitoring and evaluation, budget management and personnel management skills
  • Ability to work with a team, foster a team approach and incorporate capacity building activities into the program
  • Computer literate with an ability to analyze and utilize program development gaps for decision making.
  • Excellent organizational skills, analytical and report writing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop institutional partnerships and build networks
  • Be an excellent communicator, team player and willingness to work in a multi – sectoral team setting
