I Choose Life – Africa (ICL) is one of the leading Non-Governmental Organizations that has contributed greatly to Sexual Reproductive Health efforts among the youth in Kenya today. 

The organization works closely with the government, universities, communities and has programs in over 210 institutions (tertiary institutions and high schools) across 16 Counties in Kenya and reaches over 1 million youth annually with behavior change communication messages.

ICL's mission is to create a movement of individuals that enhance the quality of life for communities through Health initiatives, Economic empowerment, Academic & career mentoring, improved Leadership & Governance and Institutional Strengthening (HEAL & I).
 
ICL is seeking to recruit 4 (Four) community trainers who will be based in Baraton Center - Nandi County reporting to the Project Manager. 

The overall job purpose will be to carry out EBI facilitation in Institutions and in the Community Project implementation in Nandi County.
 
Key roles and responsibilities:
 
Facilitation of Evidence Based intervention activities
  • Recruit mobilize stakeholders and key mobilizers
  • Maintain sites for condom supply & distribution and water based lubricants.
  • Conduct social and community mobilization to introduce the intervention
  • Conduct recruitment and EBI trainings
  • Ensure proper recording and confidential keeping of all clients information/data entry and management
  • Maintain working relationships with the community
  • Monitor and report on individual clients
  • Distribute IEC materials
  • Refer clients for services
Resource Mobilization and Sustainability
  • Take part/ participation in proposal development with other program staff i.e. finance
  • Assemble resources required for program team to perform tasks
Program Monitoring, Evaluation & Control
  • Create, maintain & constantly look to improve project processes
  • Provide detailed explanations through reports of project  processes
  • Present work to the Partner at milestones throughout the project
  • Ensure Partners’ expectations are exceedingly met  in terms of quality of product and service delivered
Community Training
  • Conduct trainings on EBIs at community and institutional level
  • Assist the Project manager and project Officers to Coordinate program implementation
  • Assemble resources required for program team to perform tasks
  • Act as a liaison  between  the Program and the community
  • Assist the Program manager and project officers to efficiently and competently manage project challenges
Any other duties and responsibilities in line with project management.

Education and Training
  • Candidate should have a Diploma in Social Sciences or any other related field from a recognized Institution.
  • Trained in at least two HIV prevention Evidence Based interventions (EBI)
Experience, Skills and Abilities
  • Minimum 1 year hands on experience in implementation of HIV prevention programs
  • She/He should also have experience in community training and community mobilization
  • Ability to work with a team, foster a team approach and incorporate capacity building activities into the program
  • Excellent organizational skills, analytical and report writing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop institutional partnerships and build networks
  • Be an excellent communicator, team player and willingness to work in a multi – sectoral team setting
  • Computer literate with an ability to analyze and utilize program development gaps for decision making
