poverty and suffering among urban populations in Kenya?
We
are looking for someone like you to fill the position of Urban Programme
Coordinator.
Oxfam’s
Urban Programme Coordinator holds one of the most challenging and rewarding
positions in the Kenya programme.
You
will provide leadership and direction for the one of Oxfam’s leading urban
programmes and its small and dynamic team.
You
will have overall responsibility for the urban programme strategy
implementation and are expected to ensure the integration of long term
development, advocacy and humanitarian interventions within Oxfam’s one program
approach.
The
Urban Programme Coordinator works closely with other Kenya country programmes
and ensures cross learning with urban initiatives elsewhere in the world.
The
Urban Programme Coordinator represents Oxfam in Kenya in meetings with
government, private sector, civil society and other special interest groups;
working with these stakeholders to develop programmes that will lead to
positive changes in peoples’ lives and changes in the prevailing context of
marginalisation and exclusion of the urban port.
The
post holder is expected to build a portfolio of diverse partner to develop
proposals and enable them to respond to urban challenges in line with shared
strategic priorities.

You
are expected to be passionate about social justice and committed to improving
the lives of marginalised women.
You
possess a degree in Program management, social sciences or other relevant area
of study. You are expected to have substantial experience of managing
long-term, multi-year, multi-sector development programming with relevant
experience in an urban setting.
You
will be required to have high-level strategic, analytical and conceptual
ability coupled with excellent communication & capacity building skills,
excellent knowledge and understanding of the causes of urban poverty and a
commitment to the poverty eradication.
You
will have demonstrated experience of integrating gender and diversity into
programme work, Community liaison and development skills with a proven record
of financial management – including experience of proposal writing and donor
reporting, budgeting.
An
understanding of livelihoods work, public health, and protection is essential.
