University Jobs in Nairobi Kenya


Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following vacant positions available in a dynamic private university:

1) Registrar Academic

As a Senior Officer of the university, the Academic Registrar will contribute to (and lead where relevant) the development and implementation of strategies, plans and organisational climate that will enable the university to be successful and exceed the aspirations of its various external and internal stakeholders.
 
The successful candidate shall perform duties such as:
  • Provide direction and leadership to the heads of academic departments
  • Set and maintain standards of service delivery in line with the university’s strategic objectives
  • Coordination of recruitment, admission and registration of students
  • Oversee the administration of examination, graduation and certification
  • Preparation and administration of the university’s academic calendar, time tables and other academic schedules
  • Coordinate usage of tuition resources and facilities
  • Secretary to the Senate and Deans Committee.
Applicants must be holders of a PhD from a recognized university. 

He/She must have at least five (5) years working experience in the academic division of a university and be computer proficient.
 
2) Finance Manager
 
This position requires a dynamic, self-motivated and mature person with capacity to manage and control all aspects of accounting and financial management of the university.
 
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
  • Have Masters Degree in Commerce/Economics/Business Administration from a recognized university
  • Be a holder of CPA (K)
  • Have ten (10) years work experience, preferably in a university setting
  • Have appropriate experience in financial management
  • Be computer literate and familiar with accounting packages and computerized financial management systems
  • Be a member of a recognized professional accounting body
  • Demonstrate high administrative capabilities
  • Be a team player
  • Have ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Have strong inter-personal skills
3) Human Resource Manager
 
The HR Manager will be required to manage all aspects of human resource service and development within the university administration and ensure that appropriate HR departmental plans are developed to meet the needs of both the specific departments and the overall university HR strategy.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead employee engagement, management and development
  • Take the lead on development and implementation of HR policy, strategy and projects
  • Provide senior level advice, coaching and support to senior management
  • Act as the university liaison officer to both internal and external stakeholders on HR issues
  • Represent the HR department in university committee meetings on both operational and policy matters
Minimum Qualifications:
  • An MBA Degree holder specializing in HR
  • A Bachelor of Arts Degree in social sciences from a recognized university
  • A Diploma in Human Resource Management from a recognized institution
  • At least five years relevant work experience as HR Manager, preferably in a university
  • Thorough knowledge of the Kenyan Labour Legislation
  • Proficient in use of computers
  • Good analytical skills and quick decision making abilities
  • Good problem solving, planning and organizational skills
  • Possession of excellent interpersonal skills
  • Membership of a relevant professional body will be desirable
4) Internal Auditor

The role of the Internal Auditor is to assist the Vice Chancellor to ensure proper internal controls are in place.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop audit schedules and plans
  • Undertaking audits - both financial and systems audits in accordance with annual audit plans
  • Make recommendations on improvements to areas of weakness
  • Follow up on implementation to improve internal controls
  • Provide support to developing strong internal controls
  • Preparation of audit status reports for the management
  • Perform periodic review of the fixed assets register
  • Review year end inventory balances in preparation for the annual external audit
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Masters degree in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
  • Be a holder of CPA, CIA, AACA, or CISA Final
  • Must have knowledge of computerized accounting
  • Must have proof of exemplary work performance in internal audit
  • Must be a registered member of IIA or ICPAK or ISACA
  • Must be of high ethical standards, integrity and professionalism
  • Proven leadership qualities will be an added advantage.
