Job Mission
The mission is to lead the strategic, tactical and operational elements of a regional IT shared services function. The CIO will be responsible for implementing and refining a standard IT hub model providing shared infrastructure and application services to cross-border OpCo customers. The CIO will take full accountability for all information systems within the region as well as assisting in the identification and implementation of new technology directions to support strategic business growth. This will include both continuous improvement and strategic components
KPA Duties
• Translate the collective regional business plans and strategic objectives into actions for the regional IT team • Assist in creating the vision for IT, communicate and drive it through the region • Develop and implement the overarching IT strategy for the region, in line with MTN Group Strategy in order to ensure that the organization is viable both internally and externally and as a social and financial entity • Provide leadership and management with the visibility; control and decision support required to understand and manage IT; as well as provide the team with the expertise to build the IT capabilities in order to drive effectiveness and efficiencies within the team • Prepare the annual IT regional work plan and ensure the effective execution thereof in order to ensure the business objectives are achieved • Establish the IT regional functions’ in alignment with MTN Group and MTN OPCO objectives in order to effectively drive the achievement of the overall business and group objectives • Establish and monitor performance benchmarks for IT in order to ensure ongoing effectiveness of the division • Prepare, monitor and control the annual IT Shared Services budget to ensure expenditure IT in line with the business plan and business expectations around IT expenditure • Lead in terms of technical knowledge and IT developments so as to direct the organization to best practice • Facilitate alignment of IT strategy to business strategy • Ensure the business planning process and be accountable for the financial viability of the division • Ensure achievement of ROI on IT Investments • Ensure business management information needs are met (business intelligence, data) • Ensure network security and disaster recovery environment • Direct infrastructure/systems development and acquisitions • Manage service and outsource partners and ensure effective delivery and cost effective arrangements • Support company convergence strategy • Ensure IT Governance as it relates to the IT Shared Services operating model • Oversee the management of key vendors • Liaise with senior leadership within the OpCos to resolve critical IT issues and complaints • Act as the IT champion within the region
Job Requirements
• Bachelor degree in Information Systems or any other relevant/related discipline • MBA/ M.Sc
• 10 + years experience in an IT environment (ERP Environment) with at least 5 years strategic management experience in an IT function within a multinational environment • 2+ years experience managing outsource contract and managed service agreements
