Director, East African School of Aviation Job in Kenya


Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) is a State Corporation under the Ministry of Transport.
Our Mission is “to develop, regulate, and manage a safe, efficient and effective Civil Aviation System in Kenya” with a Vision “to be a model of Excellence in Civil Aviation”.
The Authority is seeking to recruit qualified Kenyan citizens to fill the following position:
Director, East African School of Aviation

Ref: No. EASA/AS/01/11
Department / Section: East African School of Aviation
Reports To: Director General
Job Purpose: Responsible to the Director General for administration and management of the East African School of Aviation

Scope of work / duties / responsibilities
  Provide leadership to EASA in fulfilling its mandate as a civil aviation training centre that provides training to meet the national, regional and international industry needs for the civil aviation training;
  Coordinate the School’s planning processes and oversees the implementation of business strategy to achieve organisational goals and objectives in an efficient and effective manner
  Evaluate the long term capability requirements, systems, equipment and human resources, of the faculties against the School’s Strategic Plan and determines plans and initiatives to be taken
  Monitor the school’s operations and coordinate the annual budgeting process and oversee the capital expenditure and operating expenditure to ensure prudent financial management.
  Identify industry needs in order to develop innovative programmes that increase both student intake and revenue from industry
  Liaise with external stakeholders/organisations as may be necessary for realisation of the EASA vision, mission and objectives.
  Coordinate strategic partnerships with organisations and institutions that will help the school enhance best practice and quality of programmes
  Develop and implements effective and clear procedures for the operations and the functioning of EASA consistent with the vision, mission, values and goals of the school. This includes and is not limited to instructional programmes, extra curricula activities, staff and student discipline;
  Ensure that EASA complies with policies and regulations of government and its agencies
  Perform any other duty as may be assigned by the Director General

Job Qualifications
  A Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  A Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) will be an added advantage.
  Training in management and leadership

Job Experience
  5 years experience as an academic administrator,
  2 years experience in an institution of higher learning.
  Experience of at least 3 years in the aviation industry.
  Proven experience for financial accountability and people management.
  Proven leadership qualities, integrity, transparency and accountability
  Demonstrated high standard of professional competence and administrative ability for direction, management and control of School functions

Job Knowledge and skills
  Knowledge of industry trends and needs.
  Knowledge of relevant ICAO standards and national requirements applicable to training institutions.
  Business acumen, ability to achieve quality in the most profitable way
  Proficiency in office suite and desktop publishing tools.
  Knowledge of the curriculum development and examination management processes.
