Nuru Energy is looking for an experienced CFO to strengthen our management team and to lead the finance activities and oversee all internal and external financial and commercial activities of Nuru Energy.
He/she will be responsible for planning, organizing, implementing and controlling Nuru Energy’s overall financial performance.
Reports to: CEO
Start Date: January 1, 2012 or as soon as possible
Based in: Depending on Visa requirements, the candidate will be based in Amsterdam and/or East Africa (Nairobi, Kigali)
Remuneration: The right candidate will be offered attractive remuneration including stock options.
Overall Responsibilities
The CFO shall work under the direct supervision of the CEO and carry out all functions specified in this ToR. He/she shall also work closely with consultants and the advisory board when required.
Specific Responsibilities
· Direct the preparation of financial reports including balance sheets, income statements, annual reports and reports to the shareholders and external parties when required.
· Supervise investment of funds, work with banks, investors to raise capital for the company
· Handle financial/commercial terms of contracts, funding, debt, trade financing etc.
· Oversee accounting, budget functions and works relating to audit functions
· Undertake treasury functions of the company
· Analyze operations of company to improve business processes and realize savings
· Confer with Country level managers to coordinate and prioritize financial planning
· Study long-range economic trends and project company’s opportunities for acquisitions or expansion into new areas of business
· Oversee Joint Venture due diligence and resource mobilization
· Manage company insurance, import/ export, financial aspects of contracts and agreements, financial negotiations, supplier/partner relationships, auditor relationship
· Develop and manage any financial staff (i.e. local accountants)
· Carry out any other task that is required by the CEO and the company
Educational and Work Requirements
· Must have a post-graduate degree (preferably a MBA) in Finance or Accounts / CA/ CPA or an associated area
· At least 10 years of work experience in a finance role (preferably as a CFO) in a leading corporation or other organization, preferably in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) or other consumer products industry, preferably in Africa and/or South Asia.
· Should have good knowledge and experience in using appropriate software and have a strong proficiency in developing financial models with Microsoft Excel
· Knowledge of and experience with the carbon market is desirable.
