Tea Zone Manager, Out growers Manager, Blending Supervisor, Sales Reps, Management Trainee Jobs in Kenya

We are an agricultural State Corporation specializing in tea production and forestry conservation. We urgently seek to recruit dynamic individuals to fill the following positions:-

Zone Manager

Job Profile: 

Reporting to the Area Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring continuous development and improvement of agricultural farm technologies and methods to attain set production objectives and goals, and also ensuring development and improvement of forest conservation in the zone as per the plans and strategies of the Corporation.

 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Managing the Zonal office in accordance with approved policies and procedures of the Corporation.
  • Monitoring the performance of all green leaf production units and forest conservation in the assigned zone.
  • Enhancing quality standards of green leaf and forest conservation as per approved policies.
  • Participating in the preparation of budget and control through effective utilization of available resources in the Zone.
  • Preparing and implementing approved scheduled work plans for all field activities.
  • Monitoring and reviewing the production and forest conservation level against set targets.
  • Supervising, appraising staff and identifying their development and training needs.
  • Preparing timely and accurate reports and distributing them to appropriate users.
  • Planning and operating the transport system, including proper maintenance of transport fleet for green leaf collection and delivery to the factories.
  • Planning and coordinating agricultural and forest development projects in the Zone, including monitoring the expansion of tea growing areas and their respective hectares.
  • Ensure that all zonal resources are effectively and efficiently managed.
  • Performing any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications and Competencies
  • Must be a holder of a degree in Bsc (Agriculture) and a diploma in Management.
  • Holders of MBA have an added advantage.
  • Must be a person with excellent interpersonal skills, attention to details, unquestionable integrity, team player and able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Must have good negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
Out growers Manager
 
Job Profile:
 

Reporting to the Factory Unit Manager, the officer will be responsible for ensuring continuous supply of green leaf tea from the out growers to the factory.

Key responsibilities
  • To recruit and register tea out growers to supply green leaf tea to the factory.
  • Planning and projecting the out growers production and informing the factory for planning purposes.
  • Ensuring quality and timely delivery of green leaf to the factory.
  • Maintaining data and information regarding the out growers production.
  • Ensuring timely payments to Outgrowers for green leaf tea deliveries.
  • Identifying and designating the green leaf collection points and ensuring proper structures and shades for green leaf collection centres that conform to the factory requirements are in place.
  • Ensuring efficient collection/transport of green leaf tea from outgrowers.
  • Ensuring provision of extension services to the out growers.
  • Ensuring timely supply of inputs to the out growers.
  • Ensuring effective management of out growers’ credit facility system.
  • Ensuring effective communication between factory and the out growers.
  • Performing any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications and Competencies
  • Must be a holder of a degree in BSc. (Agriculture) or its equivalent
  • Possession of MBA or diploma in management is an added advantage.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must be a person with excellent interpersonal skills, attention to details, unquestionable integrity, team player and able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Must have good negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years practical experience in tea industry.
Tea Blending Supervisor
 
Job Purpose

Reporting to the Head of Commercial Unit, the successful candidate will be responsible for supervision of day to day activities of blending to meet established processing and quality standards.

Key responsibilities
  • Maintain adequate raw material (tea) inventory.
  • Preparation of blend sheets as per approve production schedules.
  • Monitor blending operations to ensure accuracy and validate quality to approval standards.
  • Provide effective direction and coordination of blending activities in terms of product cost, material usage, equipment utilization and continuous improvement.
  • Observe compliance to manufacturing processes and plant safety.
Qualifications and Competencies
  • Must be a holder of a Diploma in Food Technology, or its equivalent.

  • Should possess ability to achieve results independently but also through others.
  • Should possess excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in computer.
  • Should be passionate in meeting the customer satisfaction.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years supervisory experience in tea blending.
Sales Representatives
 
Job Purpose

Managing and developing business, servicing and ensuring customer requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Achieve and exceed monthly and annual sales targets as agreed with supervisor.
  • Promote, seek and secure sales orders for company products and participate in all sales and marketing events within the allocated territory.
  • To keep distributors aligned to the agreed plans and ensure availability at all outlets within the allocated sales territory.
  • Monitor sales of distributors, stockists and key accounts on a regular basis and report accordingly.
  • Collect and account for all sales proceeds accordingly.
  • Listing and ensuring company products achieve desired visibility at traditional retail and key accounts trade.
  • Prepare and maintain a record on sales activities and other related market activities including those on competition and advice management accordingly.
  • Train and supervise sales promoters carrying out special promotion events and ensure effective execution of their tasks.
  • Carry out market intelligence to establish competition and presence of counterfeit or fake products.
  • Participate in execution and implementation of trade and consumer activities as rolled out.
Qualifications and competencies
  • Must be a holder of a degree in business related field from a recognized Institution and a holder of a diploma in sales and marketing
  • Computer literacy.
  • Must have a clean driving license and able to travel extensively.
  • Should possess excellent sales and negotiation skills as well as ability to reach a consultative and solution based sell.
  • Should be passionate in meeting the customer satisfaction.
  • Must have a minimum 2 years experience in sales, preferably in FMCG
Management Trainee

The Management trainees will participate in an extensive, well-structured training program, designed to provide a strong knowledge of all aspects of tea field operations.

The purpose is to prepare the Management trainees for Management positions within three years of experience with the Corporation.

Qualifications and competencies
  • Must be a holder of BSc. (Agriculture) or in a related field.
  • Must be a person with excellent interpersonal skills and unquestionable integrity.
