USAID Transition Initiatives for Stabilization (TIS) program
 
The Transition Initiatives for Stabilization (TIS) program is funded by USAID and implemented by Development Alternatives Inc. (DAI), an international development organization. 

TIS responds to the complex crisis that has evolved in Somalia by mitigating conflict, promoting stability and community cohesion, and increasing public confidence in governance. 

TIS implements quick impact activities linked to longer-term stabilization goals.
 
The TIS program is currently seeking a skilled, diplomatic, effective, and highly motivated Infrastructure Engineer or Architect. 

As our engineer or architect, you will work with local communities, civil society representatives, and the private sector and government officials across Somalia and Somaliland. 

Your goal will be to ensure that thousands of Somalis benefit from quality roads and structurally sound buildings, including schools, health clinics and community centers.
 
Qualifications and skills sought
  • A degree in civil engineering or architecture ;
  • Minimum 5 years experience in designing and overseeing the construction of infrastructure projects;
  • Experience in managing construction contracts and conducting inspections for infrastructure projects;
  • A diplomatic communicator who can converse with a wide range of stakeholders, including private sector and civil society representatives and government officials;
  • Available for frequent travel throughout Somalia and Somaliland;
  • Experience facilitating meetings and providing information and training;
  • Strong English language writing skills;
  • Knowledge and experience with USAID Environmental Compliance rules highly desired.
