Positions that report to this role: Production supervisor, Q.C. manager, Storekeeper and Maintenance technician.

Job Purpose Summary

To ensure that production of the company’s food products is done to the best standards at quality and at optimal cost for consumer use.

Dimensions:
  • Reporting into this role are 4 managers.  (Production Supervisor, Storekeeper, Maintenance Technician, Quality Control Manager.)
  • Production costs/budgets –(raw materials & packaging material)
  • Maintenance budget.
  • Staff costs.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Evaluates manufacturing processes by conducting research programs and applying knowledge of product design.
  • Ensure that the company produces consistent quality products and timely deliveries while making sure that the costs are controlled.
  • Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching, designing, modifying and testing manufacturing methods so as to product quality products.
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by ensuring the maintenance schedules are implemented and that work flow is smooth
  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods, testing finished product and process capabilities, establishing standards and confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Provides production information for decision making by calculating production, labour, material costs, reviewing production schedules and estimating future requirements.
  • Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information trends.
  • Sources for new suppliers, appraises and seeks approvals
  • Maintains good staff relations, developing and regularly appraising and reviewing them.
  • As part of management recruitment, recommend to the G.M/M.D’s ways to improve production methods, to help the company improve it profits.
  • Oversee the mechanical engineer on any equipment or plant repairs.
  • Ensure full compliance with the government regulation (i.e OSHA).
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Degree – food technology or engineering
  • At least  3 years experience with working knowledge of accounts receivables
  • Good knowledge of computer skills
