Position: Driver – Mombasa
Program: SAFE Coast

Location: Mombasa with frequent travel within the coastal region
Job Purpose: Provide driving and other related logistical support to SAFE Coast project staff.
Responsibilities and Tasks
- Responsible for ensuring that the project possesses all necessary traffic and personal documentation that enables you to drive legally across our areas of operation
- Ensure highest degree of driving etiquette including observance of all traffic and road regulations
- Ensure that the vehicle documentation is up to date and renewed as and when appropriate
- Liaise with Logistics and Administration Officer with regards to any major repairs required to keep the vehicle in a good road worthy condition
- To ensure that the communication equipment (CODAN Radio and antennae) are kept in good serviceable condition
- To fully understand the radio communication practices, procedures and protocols and hence maintain the same while out in the field
- To ensure that all vehicles mileage log book is updated on a per trip basis to reflect actual mileage covered and the same is updated in the vehicle mileage database on a daily basis
- To prevent misuse of vehicle and not permitting unauthorized persons to be carried except in isolated cases where some partners and or community members may request only during program activities
- To ensure that vehicle(s) are used only for official business
- To ensure at all times that the vehicle is fully equipped with necessary rescue equipment (winch, digging gear and maintenance kits etc)
- To maintain an updated list of all the maintenance and other related equipment provided with the car.
- Ensure regular collection of mail from post office (three or four times a week)
- Ensure safety of fuel cards and updates of the expiry dates.
Job Specifications:
- A valid driver’s license with over 5 years proven experience in a busy environment within the coastal region
- Good Knowledge of the Coast region as the driver will be responsible for movement of program staff and goods across counties
- Fluent in written and spoken English and Swahili. Knowledge of local language will be an added advantage• Ability to communicate effectively with others
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently as part of a team
