Goldstar Technical Assistant and Officer Jobs in Kenya


Goldstar Kenya is a local affiliate of FHI360 and works in a number of counties in Kenya to provide technical assistance to private facilities to ensure linkages and a comprehensive approach to service delivery that is in line with Government of Kenya health strategies. Gold Star Kenya also implements HIV prevention interventions that focus on promoting adoption of preventive behaviors, increasing access to core HIV prevention, care and treatment services and reducing vulnerability, targeting populations at high risk of exposure to HIV.

Technical Assistant -MARPs

Location: APHIAplus Project-Naivasha, Narok, Ngong

Basic Function:
  • The Technical Assistant will provide services to most at risk populations (MARPS) in a Drop-in Center (DIC) in the APHIAplus Project according to MOH quality standards.
  • S/He will be responsible for overall management of the Center.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing services related to HIV prevention, RH/FP, STIs among others to clients at the drop-in centre including carrying out simple medical procedures.
  • Implementing evidence based behavioural interventions for populations at high risk at the drop-in centres
  • Ordering and receiving project medical supplies through the appropriate channels
  • Compiling data and producing monthly reports
  • Assisting in planning & coordinating provision of services & health education for beneficiaries at the DIC and through outreach services
  • Liaising with relevant partners, stakeholders and collaborators involved in project activities
  • Ensure adherence to national and project guidelines and protocols in project implementation;
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly activity reports.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Degree in Nursing with 1-3 years relevant experience or a Higher Diploma in Nursing with 3-5 Years experience or a Diploma in Nursing with 5-7 years relevant experience.
  • Qualified & registered Nurse/ Midwife from a recognized medical training college.
  • Additional training in counselling and experience providing HIV counselling and testing.
  • Training in HIV prevention, care and treatment and RH/FP an added advantage.
  • Computer literate with good report writing skills. Current registration with the Nursing Council of Kenya.
Associate Technical Officer - MARPs

Location: APHIAplus Project- Nanyuki, Narok, Ngong

Basic Function:
  • The Associate Technical Officer will be responsible for coordinating interventions to most at risk populations (MARPS).
  • S/He will provide guidance and liaise with relevant partners and stakeholders in the project for quality services.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and support planning, design, and implementation of evidence-based HIV-prevention interventions for populations at high risk.
  • Ensure adherence to national and project guidelines and protocols in project implementation.
  • Represent project in the local and provincial health authorities’ project partners’ and other health and development partners’ meetings and events.
  • Ensure the mainstreaming of responses to social determinants of health into the HIV & AIDS interventions.
  • Coordinate the distribution of SBC and other materials to priority communities.
  • Review the routine monitoring and evaluation data for accuracy, lessons learned, and for policy and program actions.
  • Participate in and coordinate project advisory committee meetings.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly activity reports.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Masters in relevant field with 1-3 years experience or Degree in Social Sciences or Public Health with 3- 5 years experience or a Higher Diploma/Diploma in Social Sciences or Public Health with 5-7 years experience in HIV prevention programs for MARPS or equivalent experience.
  • Additional training and knowledge on peer education and prevention with positives’ interventions an added advantage.
  • Sensitivity of cultural differences and understanding of the political and ethical issues surrounding HIV infections.
  • Computer literate with excellent analytical and communication skills. Ability to set priorities and plans for successful project implementation.
Associate Technical Officer – Private Sector Programs

Location:

Basic Function:

The Associate Technical Officer for the Private Sector Programs will be responsible for workplace interventions and coordination with health providers, including monitoring and reporting on project activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the implementation of the workplace HIV Prevention, Care and Support programs.
  • Support the recruitment of private healthcare providers into a medical franchise scheme.
  • Provide logistical support to the medical franchise scheme.
  • Represent the project in the local health authorities’, project partners’ and other health and development partners’ meetings and events.
  • Oversee project monitoring activities.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly activity reports.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Masters in relevant field with 1-3 years experience or Degree in Social Sciences or Public Health with 3- 5 years experience or a Higher Diploma/Diploma in Social Sciences or Public Health with 5-7 years’ experience on HIV and AIDS in the private sector.
  • Knowledge of HIV and AIDS workplace programs in Kenya.
  • Experience handling logistical issues especially involving medical supplies.
  • Ability to set priorities, and plans for the successful implementation of programs.
  • Excellent public relations and marketing skills.
