Financial Accountant Job in Mombasa – Microfinance Institution (MFI)


A Microfinance Institution (MFI) with operations in
the Coastal region is seeking to fill the position of a Financial Accountant. This position manages the Finance and Accounting function in the organization.
 
The job holder will be responsible for the management and consolidation of financial reporting, portfolio management and coordination of effective audit function.
He/she will ensure the company’s compliance to policies, procedures, programs and budgets.

Responsibilities
  • Drive strategic function for sustainability of the company.
  • Manage operational function in production of financial statements in accordance to IFRS and guidelines within the statutory reporting requirements and timely portfolio management reports
  • Treasury Management and Budget control function.
  • Preparation of portfolio management reports and financial statements ensuring compliance with the existing policies and procedures.
  • Co-ordination of the preparation of annual budgets as well as the implementation and monitoring these budgets prudentially.
  • Financial analysis and Risk Management for sustainable and effective company management.
  • Development of Risk management policy manual, Finance and accounting manual and audit manuals.
  • Facilitate setting up of internal audit section in the company.
  • Coordinate the implementation of Finance staff performance appraisals.
  • Initiate draft funding proposals for MD approval.
  • Co-ordinate and organize visits by external auditors and follow up on concerns raised in the management letter.
Requirements
  • University degree C from a recognised University; CPA (K) and Diploma in Accounting, Business Administration, or Cooperative Management.
  • At least three years experience in the Accounting function with one year in Micro-Finance accounting department.
  • Experience in the management and consolidation of financial reporting, portfolio management reporting and coordination of effective auditing function.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting standards IFRS, CGAP and MFI Act 2006
  • Excellent computer skills including Excel and demonstrated skills in QuickBooks and book keeping
  • Effective oral and written communication ability.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills with precision and attention to detail while meeting deadlines.
