Situational Analysis for the Development of a Community Based Natural Resource Management (CBNRM) Strategy Consultancy

Expression of Interest (EOI) for Undertaking a Situational Analysis
for the Development of a Community Based Natural Resource Management (CBNRM) Strategy Consultancy

WWF – the global conservation organization, Kenya Country Office (WWF-KCO) considers CBNRM as an important approach to conservation of natural resources in Kenya since the approach empowers and engages the communities in the management of natural resources to derive benefits.

The legislative and policies frameworks being revised in Kenya should adequately and effectively empower and incorporate the communities in their management as outlined in the current constitution in order to reduce the threats.

WWF-KCO is inviting Expressions of Interests (EoI) for consultancy services to undertake a Situational Analysis (SA) of CBNRM in Kenya, including a CBNRM atlas and inventory that will provide a baseline to understanding of where CBNRM is being implemented.

The SA will include, amongst other things describing the prevailing understanding and practice of CBNRM in Kenya; where CBNRM is being undertaken; management approaches; implementing agency; sectors (fisheries, forestry and wildlife) including the operation, challenges and opportunities, benefit distribution, governance, partnerships, decision making, lessons learned; assessment of availability and type of natural resources, local political and traditional contexts.

Interested and eligible firms and individuals should submit a letter of application; capability statement and supporting documents or references; organisation profile; and a summary of key professionals to perform the task(s). The applicant should demonstrate understanding of scope of work, knowledge, skills and experience with documentary evidence of having delivered similar services elsewhere.

Application should not include the cost quotation at this stage. Detailed Terms of Reference (TOR) will be provided latter.

WWF-KCO is not bound in any way by this EoI to engage any of the interested applicants.
All EoI should be send by email to NSitati@wwfesarpo.org not later than 26th August 2011.
