Rafiki wa Maendeleo Trust ICT & Library Coordinator Job in Kenya

Rafiki wa Maendeleo Trust is currently seeking to recruit a talented, progressive and team-oriented individual to fill the position of ICT & Library Coordinator. Female candidates are encouraged to apply.

Purpose of the Position:

To provide and maintain efficient ICT support to the project site; provide technical and operational support in the implementation, maintenance and improvement of information technology systems, procedures and activities.

Provide support service in the Library Resource Centre in information management and knowledge sharing.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

ICT

  • Administration of RWMT’s IT network, computing facilities and other data and telecommunications facilities.
  • Perform periodic back-ups for all systems for offsite storage.
  • Coordinate the introduction and technical operation of computer applications.
  • Conduct/facilitate ICT training courses.
  • Provide input to management on the acquisition of computer and telecommunications hardware and software, and coordinate installation of new hardware and introduction of new software.
  • Administer the maintenance of new computer and telecommunications equipment.
  • Establish and maintain electronic mail connections.
  • Enforce software and hardware security measures by restricting access to the systems to authorised persons only.
  • Ensure security protection of the LAN and servers.

Library

  • Ensure that the Library is well organised and run smoothly on day-to-day basis.
  • Establish and maintain cataloguing systems for print and electronic materials in the resource centre.
  • Classify incoming materials in accordance with the established cataloguing system.
  • Assist Resource Centre users with their information requests and provide the necessary advice as required.
  • Direct and support staff and other users to easy access to required information.
  • Retrieve reference information materials for users from the shelves.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of users/members, books borrowed, enquiries received and books sold, and statistics on use of resource centre as directed by the management.
  • Periodically appraise records in the Resource Centre and with the direction of the management transfer to archives records for permanent preservation while listing the ones earmarked for destruction.
  • Develop and maintain an inventory of the resource center holding.
  • Processing and shelving of new publications
  • Assist staff and other users on effective use of internet.
  • Undertake photocopies for users.
  • Perform any other duties and responsibilities which may be assigned by the management from time to time.

Documentation

  • Assist users with their information requests and provide the necessary advice as required.
  • Develop and maintain electronic filing and archiving system for the site.
  • Enter data into established database and assist with the validation of all captured data in order to ensure data integrity.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in the Saturday Psycho-Social Support Program for Orphaned and Vulnerable Children

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Specialised Training/Professional Qualifications

  • Diploma in Computer Systems/ IT
  • Training and experience in key Software management.
  • At least a Diploma in Library and Information Science.

Other competencies:

  • Knowledge and skills relating to the use of office automation, available resources and systems requirements.
  • Ability to identify office automation needs.
  • Ability to manage the office mutli-user computer networks, and solve systems/hardware/software problems.
  • Ability to identify computer training needs and recommend appropriate interventions.
  • Strong analytical skills, interpersonal skills, and communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and able to relate well with a wide range of people.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with modern computing software and database skills

Job experience:

  • At least three (3) years relevant experience.
