Kenya
Sugar Board, the regulatory body of the Kenyan sugar industry is looking for
experienced, highly motivated and results oriented individuals to join its
team.
The
incumbents must be self-driven individuals who will provide Strategic
Leadership and focus on the achievement of Departmental targets.
They
will work with their Departmental teams in spearheading / embracing
innovations, work ethics and ensuring high levels of integrity.
1. Agricultural Extension Officer (1)
Role: Reporting to the Head of Agriculture, the role of the Agricultural Extension Officer is to continuously monitor and evaluate the status of sugarcane in order to provide crop production estimates/forecasts.
Responsibilities
- Monitor
and evaluate the availability and utilization of sugarcane production
inputs.
- Prepare
quarterly reports on sugarcane production.
- Monitor
the status of sugarcane production estimates
- Provide
agriculture extension services to outgrowers
- Provide
technical support to other user departments
Qualifications
and Experience
- Bachelor
of Science in Agriculture or equivalent
- Post
graduate qualification in Agricultural extension
- Competence
in IT
- 7
years experience in Extension services.
2. Agro-Mechanization Officer (2)
Role: Reporting to the Head of Agriculture, the role of the Agro-Mechanization Officer involved participating in development and implementation of agricultural engineering strategies that enhance sustainable and efficient sugarcane production.
Responsibilities
- Participate
in agricultural mechanization research programmes
- Closely
monitor the industry transport systems to determine transit losses and
advise
- Monitor
harvesting and loading of sugarcane to determine in field losses and
advise as required.
- Participate
in the development of efficient cane transportation systems and their
costs.
- Monitor
the quarterly status of land preparation in the industry.
- Establish
the status of the land preparation machinery in the industry.
- Oversee
the implementation of sugarcane production under irrigation in the
industry.
Qualifications
and Experience
- Bachelor
of Science in Agriculture Engineering or equivalent
- Post
graduate qualification in management of Agricultural Machinery
- Competence
in IT
- 5
years experience in Agricultural Mechanization/Engineering.
3. Senior Economist (1)
Role: Reporting to the Head of Corporate Planning, the Senior Economist will be required to participate in the monitoring and evaluation of industry projects, do market and industry performance analysis on sugar availability an levy collections and make recommendations to Management
Responsibilities
- Appraise,
monitor and evaluate sugar industry projects.
- Prepare
periodic statutory, market and industry performance analyses and make
recommendations to management
- Monitor
and evaluate industry projects.
- Monitor
the sugar imports and exports levels and advise on appropriate levies,
- Prepare
annual and forward plans for the industry.
- Preparation
of monthly, quarterly periodicals and annual bulletins on sugar.
- Disseminate
up-to-date information on sugar matters to the stakeholders.
- Conduct
feasibility studies on new projects.

years experience as Senior Economist
4. Systems Analyst/Programmer (1)
Role: Reporting to the ICT Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for analyzing user requirements for system enhancement and configuration and providing appropriate solutions. He/she will plan, develop, test and document advanced computer programs, streamline information security constructs into all systems and apply knowledge of programming techniques and computer systems to ensure that all systems are secure and user friendly.
Responsibilities
- Responsible
for systems design, development and testing of application programs and
Navisioncustomized reports.
- Troubleshoot
system errors/bugs and develop appropriate solutions.
- Database
development, management and administration in MS SQL Server and MySQL.
- Analyze,
review, and alter programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to
new requirements.
- Analyze
user requests for Navision system enhancement and configuration and
provide appropriate solutions.
- Validate
that new system changes are moved to the production environment correctly
and update system documentation.
- Train
end users on new system features or upgrades.
- Participate
in technical evaluations of proposed ICT systems
- Provide
support to workflow systems.
- Develop
technical documentation including technical manuals and operational
procedures for implemented systems.
- Perform
other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the ICT Manager
Qualifications
- B.Sc.
degree in Computer Science, IT, Information Systems or equivalent degree.
- At
least five (5) years of system development and maintenance experience in a
challenging position.
- Advanced
knowledge of Database development, management and administration
constructs in SQL Server and MySQL.
- Excellent
programming and web development skills in PHP/MySQL, VB, Java,.NET,
Apache, IIS.
- Good
working knowledge of ITIL V3 framework.
- Relevant
IT Certifications including MCSE, MCDBA, CISA and ITIL V3
- Proven
experience in supporting Navision systems, Finance and/or HR business
processes will be an added advantage;
5. Help-Desk Administrator (1)
Role: Reporting to the ICT Manager, he/she will be responsible for ensuring that users are provided efficient and timely first and second level support including, answering telephones, communicating with clients, diagnosing hardware and software malfunctions, troubleshooting problems, replacing hardware and installing new software on clients’ machines.
Responsibilities:
- Provide
staff support for administrative tasks and projects relative to the
Desktop, Wide Area Network, Local Area Network and Telephony functions.
- Monitor
the problem management database and follow up with assigned personnel to
ensure timely resolution of problems.
- Isolate
problem trends and ensure that troubleshooting efforts are completed for
recurring problems until permanent solutions are found.
- Ensure
that daily, weekly, and monthly statistics, status reports, and graphical
reporting aids are completed and continually modified to meet the needs of
the department.
- Contribute
to departmental productivity and development objectives by participating
in training programs.
- Solve
problems and makes decisions on a daily basis relative to Help Desk
responsibilities.
- Remain
on-call during off-peak hours to respond to and support service issues
- Perform
other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the ICT Manager
Qualifications:
- B.Sc.
degree in Computer Science, IT, Information Systems or equivalent degree.
- Two
(2) or more years of related technical experience in a help desk
environment supporting Desktop, Wide Area Network, and Local Area Network
equipment.
- Excellent
working knowledge in managing and administering Microsoft Domain
controlled Environments.
- Ability
to manage multiple high priority initiatives in a fast paced highly
technical environment
- Good
working knowledge of ITIL V3 framework.
- Relevant
IT Certifications including MCSE, MCP, MCDST and ITIL V3.
- He/She
must be a person of integrity, demonstrate excellent communication and
interpersonal skills and be a team player
