Regional Accountant
Location: Regional Centre, Nairobi – Kenya

Starting Salary: Ksh 247,713 gross per month

We have an exciting opportunity for you in the Horn East and Central Africa (HECA) regional centre.
This region comprises Ethiopia, South Sudan, Somaliland, DRC, Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
The Role
As Regional Accountant
your role will entail supporting the finance managers in the region in
all aspects of financial management including budget preparation,
monitoring and reporting.
You will ensure that all
donor financial requirements are met and that donor reports are timely
and accurate and ensure compliance to policies and procedures in all
areas.
You will also contribute
to capacity building of finance staff in the region in financial
management and interpretation of financial information for management
decision-making.
The Person
You will require
knowledge and experience of institutional donor funding requirements
particularly DFID, EU, ECHO and UN to be able to advise programme staff
accordingly.
In addition you must have
strong analytical and numeracy skills as well as be able to demonstrate
experience of working with computerised accounting packages and
spreadsheets with ability to transfer these skills to other users.
An effective communicator with demonstrated experience in an advisory role within the region.
Good knowledge of local and regional laws and statutory requirements is essential for this role.
The scope of this position makes it very challenging, thus requiring a dynamic and organized individual.
You will be a CPA (K) or equivalent and have an undergraduate degree in a related field.
You will have intensive working experience, preferabley in an NGO.
You will have highly developed interpersonal skills and a proactive approach to issues.
A working knowledge of French will be an added advantage.
The role will involve travelling within the region for extended periods.
