Waste Management Company General Manager Job in Kenya (KShs 80K - 100K)

Our client is a leading firm in garbage collection, cleaning, fumigation, sanitation, recycle waste management and disposal management. 

Their focus is on providing quality services to people and the environment through sustainable activities with a client portfolio ranging from gated community households, local authorities, institutions and corporates.
 
An exciting vacancy of General Manager reporting to the Board of Directors exists. 

Further details concerning the role are as follows:
 

Job Purpose / Summary 

The General Manager, he or she will also be responsible for developing new business opportunities, managing client relationships and leading teams to achieve set targets. 

The job holder will provide recommendations to the company concerning strategies that will deliver sustainable and profitable business growth.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Overseeing the entire business by managing all the company’s operations
  • Leading in the formulation and implementation of organizational policies and strategies
  • Coordinating preparation of organizations’ annual budget for approval by the board and following through to ensure targets and budgets are met as per agreed business deliverables
  • Monitoring the organization’s budget by reviewing management accounts and ensuring they conform to the budgetary provisions
  • Develop and monitor annual operating budget and cash flow
  • Oversee bookkeeping function, including management, tracking and reconciliation of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and related taxes, cash receipts, and cash balances
  • Review and approval of contracts with outside vendors and performance
  • Authorizing transactions and actions in accordance with the set authorization limits
  • Developing procedures related to the organization and ensure effective implementation
  • Ensuring preparation of timely organization reports covering all departments
  • Developing and facilitating capacity building of staff to achieve optimal performance and motivational levels
  • Responsible for developing, maintaining and updating strategy plans with senior management
  • Managing key external stakeholders and business relationships as they relate to company strategy and growth
  • Researching and analysing new business opportunities for and managing the development of these opportunities with stakeholders
  • Managing complex work assignments with minimum supervision
  • Takes co- responsibility for strategic direction of the overall business, including all operational components of Finance, HR, Risk, IT, and Compliance
Minimum Qualifications
  • Degree in Business Management, commerce or any other related field
  • An MBA will be an added advantage
  • 6-8 years’ experience in a senior management role in a relevant corporate industry
  • Outstanding people management, business development and client relationship management skills
  • Demonstrate experience in project management, environmental impact assessment, monitoring and evaluation
  • Result oriented and a high performer with an entrepreneurial mind set
  • Strong interpersonal skills and human relations
  • Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements
  • Proven leadership and ability to drive business development teams
  • High levels of integrity
