AfriCOG’s governance and anti-corruption reform initiatives are aimed at addressing the structural causes of Kenya’s governance crisis by a knowledgeable citizenry. 

AfriCOG is seeking to recruit a high calibre, results oriented, experienced and highly skilled professional for the position of Deputy Executive Director to coordinate and support Programs, Finance and Administration functions.
 
The role
 
Reporting to the Executive Director, the jobholder will play a key role in the development and implementation of the AfriCOG’s strategic plans and policies. 

S/he will provide leadership and direction to the programmes, finance and administration staff. 

The job holder will provide guidance on research, fundraising, donor management, business development, and partnership activities. 

The individual will also be responsible for developing and applying learning, monitoring and evaluation criteria to better measure the effectiveness and outcomes of AfriCOG’s projects.
 
The person
 
This position requires a Master’s degree in social sciences, law, economics or equivalent with at least eight (8) years experience in a similar position in an NGO set up with exposure to the civil society sector.
 
In addition, the individual must demonstrate a genuine interest in the civil society sector with experience in partnership building, advocacy and networking. 

Ability to manage several simultaneous projects in a fast-paced environment and experience in research, proposal development, resource mobilization and programme management is critical for this role.

The ICRC’s Somalia Delegation in Nairobi implements the institution’s humanitarian activities in Somalia and is seeking an experienced and highly motivated person to fill the position mentioned below, which will be based in Nairobi but with frequent traveling to Somalia.
 
Information Technology (IT) Technician
 
The Responsibilities:
  • He/she will be based in Kenya with frequent travelling to Somalia for providing IT/Technical support to the divers offices in Somalia;
  • Provide support by assisting computer users on a day today basis;
  • Ensure proper functioning of computers, printers and the network environment;
  • Assist in the introduction of computer technologies and ensure error free standard software and hardware installation and configuration on workstations according to ICRC policy;
  • Install and maintain the telephone network system;
  • Install and maintain connectivity devices on ICRC LAN’s;
  • Train, support and advise computer, radio and telephone users in the region;
  • Administer and maintain IT inventory;
  • Plan, install, maintain and repair all the radio communication systems (i.e. Mobile & fixed radio installations, repeaters, operational radio room)
The Requirements:
  • Kenyan residence and holding a valid National passport;
  • Degree or Diploma in Information Technology;
  • Professional certification in a Network Operating System or Software Development;
  • Good knowledge of computer culture, utilities, printers and peripherals;
  • Experience in HF & VHF radio installations, VSAT and Satellite technologies;
  • At least three years experience in Network Administration;
  • Good knowledge of English and Somali language;
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel in Somalia and to spend short-medium periods in the field.

Project Officer – Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR) 

To be based at Nakuru
 
Responsibilities:
  • To plan, implement, monitor and document all the FMNR activities within the targeted Programs as per the detailed implementation plan.
  • To provide necessary technical support, related training, follow-up, and guidance to the staff and farmers youth and women groups under FMNR and provide feedback and reports to the Sub branch and National Office (NO).
  • Monitor and support the timely and appropriate utilization of budgeted resources for all FMNR related project interventions as well as ensure effective and timely response plans to all financial audit findings of FMNR initiatives.
  • Develop context specific electronic and live media communications on FMNR and NRM activities.
  • Support Community/ Farmers Capacity building on alternative livelihood options.
  • Participate in proposal development and resource mobilization.
  • Compile the necessary monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
  • Will be in charge of all activities for the FMNR project as per the detailed implementation plan in collaboration with the Program Managers, Community Mobilizers, Ministry of Agriculture, Kenya Forestry Service, Ministry of Environment and other stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resource Management or Agro-forestry
  • At least two years’ on job experience on Natural resource management or Agro-Forestry and with some experience on Agriculture.
  • Experience working with NGOs will be an added advantage.
  • Ability and willingness to work with diverse communities
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision.
