KAM Jobs in Kenya


The Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) – the representative organization for manufacturing value - add industries in Kenya is seeking to competitively fill the following positions:-

1. Executive Officer, Energy Services
Designation: Executive Officer, Energy Services

Reporting to: The Coordinator, Centre for Energy Efficiency and Conservation

Job Purpose: To deliver and expand the scope of energy efficiency as an excellent business benefit for end users  and ensure that energy issues receive the requisite attention to assist consumers to implement energy conservation measures in order to make profitable use of energy and thus improve their bottom lines.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Jointly with Energy Services Executive Officers, provide key support on energy efficiency for the benefit of industry and other target sectors;
  • Provide technical advice on issues related to firm level energy efficiency including quality control on the General Energy Audits and Investment Grade Audits carried out
  • Advise and Lobby for the provision of affordable and reliable electricity for industrial consumers
  • Liaise with the Association of Large Electricity Consumers (AOLEC) to ensure concerns of the greater KAM membership are represented to the Government.
  • Conduct various Energy Efficiency related studies and analytical documentation of the  study results
  • Assist industry to link up with Energy service providers to facilitate energy audits and support implementation of energy efficiency  projects in their facilities
  • Organise and facilitate meetings with relevant committees/councils and ensuring follow up of agreed actions;
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the Chief Executive and / or the Coordinator - CEEC
Requirements:
  • University degree in Electrical or Energy Engineering from a recognized institution
  • CEM Certification  will  be an added advantage
  • Computer proficiency
  • Minimum 5 years of professional working experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective organizational skills, team player and attentive to detail
  • Knowledge of the industrial sector
2. Chapter Assistant Executive Officer

Designation: Assistant Executive Officer, Industrial Area - Nairobi

Reporting to: Snr. Executive Officer – Membership Development
 
Job Purpose:
To work closely with the local business Committee so as to enhance effective service delivery to KAM members in Industrial Area and surrounding regions.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Recruiting new members into the Association and ensure existing ones and fully subscribed;
  • Liaising with County Governments and other Government agencies on issues of regulation, licensing, standards and business matters of concern to members;
  • Receiving Members’ advocacy issues and forwarding them to the Secretariat for submission to government authorities;
  • Organising chapter meetings, seminars, workshops and other functions in consultation with the chairman and /or Secretariat;
  • Representing the Association in various local forums and to assist  coordinate regional business agenda activities at the chapter;
  • Publishing and circulating a monthly chapter newsletter with relevant information content to members;
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by your immediate Supervisor or the Chief Executive.
Qualifications:
  • Holder of degree from a recognized University
  • Minimum experience of 3 years working in a marketing, customer relations department or Business organization with a focus in advocacy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must demonstrate ability to manage time and prioritize issues effectively
  • Must be able to work under pressure and exhibit discipline
  • Proficiency in the use of computer is a must
3. Head of Policy Research and Advocacy

Designation:
Senior Executive Officer

Reporting to: Chief Operations Officer

Job Purpose: To provide overall direction and oversight of KAM Advocacy Work

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design and oversee KAM Policy, Research and Advocacy strategy and delivery of results.
  • Maintain an observatory on national, regional and international developments that impact on industry;
  • Engage members of KAM through committees and sectors to make contribution to advocacy positions of the organization;
  • Ensure KAM is represented in forums of interest to its members;
  • Ensure timely preparations of KAM policy related information to members and all stakeholders;
  • Ensure KAM work with other Business Membership Organizations in coalition and networks to deliver policy advocacy agenda;
  • Provide oversight on budget management, fundraising, income generation and expenditure for the Unit;
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the CEO.
Qualifications:
  • Msc or MA. in Economics or Policy Research, Law or Business
  • Excellent interpersonal, communications, public speaking, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to generate respect and trust from staff and external constituencies.
  • Strong leadership skills and a team player
  • Customer relationship management skills
4. Executive Officer,  Manufacturing Academy

Designation: Executive Officer

Reporting to:
Manager, KAM Consulting

Job Purpose: The incumbent will develop and execute KAM Training programmes under the   Manufacturing Academy. 

The Academy is being developed to provide quality demand driven and profitable consultancy and training services to the business community in Kenya and the greater EAC region. 

It is expected to design and competitively deliver business training services to the business community and other customers.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Incumbent will be expected to offer strategic leadership and execution to the function and grow by ensuring that:-
  • Identify, prioritize and develop key high quality training and other  services targeting business leaders and senior management in companies,
  • Maintain relations with external service providers to be retained to offer services on behalf of KAM Consulting
  • Competitively market and offer services demanded by industry and the business sector;
  • Ensure KAM Consulting Unit generates a profit above operations costs as contribution to revenue of the organisation
Qualifications:
  • The successful candidate should have an MBA (or equivalent) with relevant skills in Training, Communication and Marketing.
  • 3-5 years experience of running corporate training programmes/activities in a highly competitive environment.
  • Excellent technical, communication and presentation skills are necessary.
  • Advanced skills in sales & marketing and/or financial management will be an added advantage.
5. Executive Officer – Research Business Writer

Designation: Executive Officer – Research & Business Writing
 
Reporting to: Head of Unit – Corporate Communications
 
Job Purpose: Conduct research on economic, business and political trends, write and edit technical articles and pieces for public media and a variety of internal KAM publications.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research on political, economic and business issues particularly those affecting the business environment;
  • Write, edit and publish Policy Briefs, Economic Update and Intelligence reports, Position Papers, OPEDS, Research Publications, Press Statements, Industry Today Magazine among others;
  • Manage healthy relations with the media.
Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Economics, Policy Analysis or Communications, from a recognized University,
  • At least 3 years relevant experience preferably working with media.
  • Have demonstrated ability in research coupled with a flair for business writing.
  • Desktop publishing skills and ability to manage publishing in various media including new media from inception to distribution will be a great advantage.
