MKCCS Community Development Officer, Project Officer and Project Assistants Jobs in Thika and Mukurwe-ini Kenya


Background:
 
Mount Kenya Region Christian Community Services (MKCCS), a Christian development organization with strong local and international linkages wishes to recruit self motivated and performance driven individuals for her projects in Kiambu and Nyeri Counties.

Community Development Officer

To be stationed in Thika
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Overseeing implementation, monitoring and evaluation of area programs
  • Ensuring timely preparation and approval of work plans and budgets
  • Ensuring timely reporting (both financial and narrative)
  • Facilitating training and consultations at the grassroots level using participatory methods
  • Ensuring prudent financial management
  • Spearheading fundraising

Key Qualifications, Skills and Competencies:
  • First degree (bachelor’s) in Community Development, Sociology or  
  • Demonstrable experience in participatory approaches (PRA/PLA)
  • 5 years experience in proposal writing, project implementation and financial management in a reputable development organization
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in computer applications
Project Officer (Health) 

To be stationed in Mukurwe-ini
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Undertake the elaboration of Work Plans and Timelines.
  • Ensure the project is conducted according to pre-set Work Plans including coordination with Finance.
  • Provide training and technical backstopping to Community Health Workers in collaboration with Ministry of Health.
  • Coordinate and follow up with the project health activities undertaken by project partners.
  • Track project activities to ensure they are progressing as per the schedule.
  • Maintain project Calendar, budget and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Take responsibility for implementing an aspect(s) of the project as appropriate according to experience and expertise as determined in consultation with Project Manager;
  • Support proposal development, narrative and financial reporting and ensure the dissemination;
  • Provide technical support at all stages of the project implementation;
  • Put in place a proper system of data collection;
  • Submit monthly comprehensive activities reports for the Project, according to the MKCCS Internal Monthly Report Form.
Key Qualifications, Skills and Competencies:
  • Diploma in Public Health, Community Health or Environmental Health.
  • A bachelor’s degree in the above will be an added advantage.
  • A minimum of 3 years work experience consistent with the types of duties above in health promotion Projects and collaboration with the GoK.
  • Understanding and experience in implementation of community health strategy.
  • Excellent computer knowledge (Ms-Office a MUST).
  • Good community mobilization skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills Good Organizational aptitude.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and coordinate multiple tasks at once.
  • Excellent managerial and report writing skills.
  • High level of credibility and integrity.
  • Working knowledge of Donor rules & regulations shall be an advantage.
Project Assistants

To be stationed in Mukurwe-ini
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Undertake the elaboration of Work Plans and Timelines.
  • Coordinating Farmers Field Schools.
  • Ensure the project is conducted according to pre-set Work Plans.
  • Provide coordinating and administrative support to the project team as directed by the Project Manager.
  • Train project beneficiaries and follow up on implemented activities.
  • Track project activities to ensure they are progressing as per the schedule.
  • Maintain project Calendar, budget and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Take responsibility for implementing an aspect(s) of the project as appropriate according to experience and expertise as determined in consultation with Project Manager;
  • Support proposal development, narrative and financial reporting and ensure the dissemination;
  • Provide technical support at all stages of the project implementation;
  • Put in place a proper system of data collection;
  • Submit monthly comprehensive activities reports for the Project, according to the MKCCS Internal Monthly Report Form.

  • Diploma in General Agriculture, Conservation/organic Agriculture, Agribusiness or Agricultural Economics.
  • A minimum of 3 years work experience consistent with the types of duties above in Rural or Community Development Projects.
  • Excellent computer knowledge (Ms-Office a MUST).
  • Good community mobilization skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills Good Organizational aptitude.
  • Possess the flexibility to assess and react appropriately to changing circumstances.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and coordinate multiple tasks at once.
  • Excellent managerial and report writing skills.
  • High level of credibility and integrity.
  • Working knowledge of Donor rules & regulations shall be an advantage.
