Vision Kenya is a leading non-governmental Christian humanitarian, relief,
development and advocacy organization with projects in most parts of
Kenya.
We
wish to urgently recruit highly competent persons to fill the following
positions within our organization.
1. Communications Officer - Child Health Now Campaign
To
be based in Nairobi
Purpose
of the position
To
provide communications advice, guide and implement communications plans for
World Vision’s Child Health Now Campaign (CHNC) that seeks to reduce the
preventable deaths of children under five.
Key Responsibilities
- To
develop and implement communications plans for the advocacy campaign and
advocacy programs of World Vision Kenya
- To
Prepare written materials, internal newsletters, press releases, articles,
media briefings, Q&A’s, training documents, presentation materials and
other communications products related to the Child Health Now advocacy
programme and World Vision Kenya communications.
- To
Provide communications advice including crafting relevant messages and
right media channels to given communications challenges.
- Develop
marketing materials for CHNC and effectively market the campaign in Kenya.
- Gather
communications resources for the CHN advocacy campaign and World Vision
partnership offices for Marketing, Communication and Advocacy.
- Ensure
effective branding for the CHNC.
- Develop
strong media relations with key local media in Kenya and facilitate
opportunities for WV to feature in local media.
- Photography
and dissemination of photographic material to WV Partnership and Advocacy
stakeholders
- Videography
and documentary support including idea formulation, conceptualization and
implementation.
- Provide
relevant media relations and brand training to World Vision Branch, and
ADP managers particularly in the area of child and maternal health.
- Work
closely with the advocacy and communications team.
Qualifications:
Education / Knowledge / Technical Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s
degree in Communications/Journalism or other relevant training from a
recognized university or college.
- At
least two years experience in busy corporate communications, print,
electronic or social media office.
- Good
command in communication and report writing skills.
- Good
command of both spoken and written English
- Good
photography skills.
- Computer
literate and experienced in the use of basic software programmes
- Adequate
understanding of World Vision Operations to be able to work
programmatically.
- Should
be creative and a team player.
- Should
be broad-minded and have media contacts.
- Must
be flexible, be ready to travel and work under pressure for long and
irregular hours and meet strict deadlines.
2. Program Officer - Child Health Now Campaign
To
be based in Nairobi
Purpose
of the position
To
lead in the delivery of the Child Health Now Campaign at the National
level.
The
Manager will liaise, support, and work closely with colleagues involved
on the issue of health and community empowerment nationally.
This
post will link in with WVI’s Global Health campaign team who ultimately seek
to: Lead WV’s global advocacy on child health; Build WVI as a Global Advocacy
Force; support programme learning and development; help develop WVI’s policy on
what we do and say to ensure policies are informed by our experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent
WV at external events; external contacts building and networking including
working with the Senior Manager in engaging with key external agencies as
identified in the Global Child Health Campaign strategy and ensuring
harmonious relations within WV Partnership, donors and all other
stakeholders. The incumbent will also be expected to represent WV to Donor
Mission representatives for Strategic Development Alliances
- Develop
cost-effective campaigning activities to maximize political impact;
leading pursuit of innovation and unique value, contributing to child
well-being and related outcomes;
- Working
closely with the proposal development team to contribute to the writing of
proposal, sections describing private sector involvement in given projects
and manage the integration of the CHNC into other areas of Ministry
- Support
the development of advocacy campaign capacity in specific areas across the
World Vision partnership.
- Manage
the institutional public engagement on child health; work with the
institutional expertise generated from our programs and ensure that the
public engagement of technical colleagues is deployed in a strategic
manner that increases our influence on specific audiences; ensure our
community empowerment work forms part of our influencing tools.
Qualifications:
Education / Knowledge / Technical Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s
degree in Social Sciences,
- 5
years experience in public policy, campaigning, advocacy, lobbying and
communications; Masters Degree added advantage
- Experience
in capacity building
- Strategic,
creative, and innovative thinking
- Must
have a successful track record in coordinating / managing advocacy
campaigns
- Must
have outstanding oral and written communication skills.
3. People & Culture / Administrative Officer (Human Resources
Officer)

Positions to be based at Kisumu and Kitale
Purpose of the job
To
support the Sub branch staff with People and Culture (P&C) and
Administrative functions so as to enhance service delivery of Sub branch
offices and ensuring smooth flow of work.
Work
closely with the P&C NO to provide HR support to the Sub Branches.
Key Responsibilities:

- Coordinate,
monitor and maintain leave records under the sub branch.
- Co-ordination
of the students’ attachment within the Sub Branch and the processing of
attachment letters.
- Coordinate
recruitment for staff at the Sub Branch and IPA Level for GLs below 12
including participating in the Internship recruitments.
- Dissemination
of Human Resource related Information in liaison with P & C National
Office
- Alert
on medical! and hospital admission cases and ensure new staff are enrolled
in the medical scheme.
- Tracking
of the contract expiry dates of the staff at the sub branch, and following
up with IPA managers to fill renewal/ non-renewal forms
- Ensure
updated records are maintained in staff files at the IPA level and sub
branch level.
- Offer
office administrative support services
- Assist
in the co-ordination of meetings, workshops, training and retreats for the
Sub branch staff.
- Submitting
monthly reports on new hires, terminations, disciplinary, sick-offs,
annual leave, and such other matter as may be of HR importance.
- Co-ordinate
and conduct orientation for new staff recruited at the Sub branch and IPA
level.
- Receiving
and distributing information/docs from P & C to the IPAs, e.g.
pay-slips, medical cards, staff contracts etc.
Qualifications:
Education / Knowledge / Technical Skills and Experience
- Degree
in Human Resource Management or related field
- Working
experience of at least three years in a busy NGO
- Professional
membership in a Human Resource body desired.
- Computer
Literate in Microsoft Office Packages.
- Mature
personality with ability to maintain confidentiality.

communications and interpersonal
