Technical Sales Representative
 
Job Purpose
 
The Technical Sales Representative shall be responsible for promoting and demonstrating the company's products, with the goal of closing sales while attaining a sales target.  
The product line ranges from steel and hardware products to plastics. 
This role shall develop long-term relationships with clients and serve as a key point of contact for them, managing and interpreting their requirements, and providing both pre- and after-sales support

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
  • Knowing the technical features of all of the products within our product line and be able to effectively demonstrate the products to the customer.
  • Ability how to perform and manage the selling process of a technical selling cycle.
  • Meeting customers for the purpose of product demonstrations and selling products
  • Completing daily tasks and management reporting, including timely quotations to customers
  • Timely completion of all periodic sales reports, quotations, calendar events, and opportunity management.
  • Achieving sales targets and prospecting and cold calling to identify new business opportunities.
  • Completing, working, reviewing, and improving a Sales Plan that includes an action plan for increasing sales to active customers and prospective customers, maintaining a high level of in-field time, and continually improving product presentation skills and product knowledge.
  • Responding to all customer phone calls and emails in a timely manner.
  • Generating competitor intelligence and assisting in preparation of comparisons with competitors products
  • Providing feedback and input from own markets to help shape marketing strategy for all company products.
  • searching for new clients who might benefit from company products or services and maximizing client potential in designated regions;
  • persuading clients that a product or service best satisfies their needs in terms of quality, price and delivery;
  • negotiating contract terms and conditions to meet both client and company needs;
  • calculating client quotations and administering client accounts;
  • providing pre-sales technical assistance and product education, and after-sales support services;
  • and coordinating sales projects;
  • supporting marketing activities by attending trade shows, conferences and other marketing events;
  • Following up on all leads, as well as generating leads for the other company sales reps.
  • liaising with other members of the sales team and other technical experts;
  • Any other tasks required by the management
Requirements
  • Degree in Marketing or any business field.
  • 5 years good Marketing or selling experience preferably in Steel/Hardware products.
  • Salary is KShs 120k-150k.
  • Age 25-45 years.
Inhouse / Counter Sales Associate

Main Purpose of the job

Responsible for maintaining outstanding customer service as per company standards, generating sales, merchandising, and safeguarding company assets and to ensure risks are kept to a minimum for the company.

Main duties and responsibilities
  • To provide the Branch Manager with information for strategy development.
  • To build and maintain a portfolio of customers, ensure consistent interaction with them on a timely basis.
  • To offer support, guidance and feedback on potential purchases, based on product knowledge.
  • Assist in floor moves, merchandising, display maintenance and housekeeping, processing & replenishing merchandise and monitoring floor stock.
  • To have complete and thorough understanding of the product ranges carried to be able to communicate effectively to and aid customers in locating the merchandise.
  • Visiting customers on a regular basis to assess product off take, pricing and risk.
  • Assist in completing product price changes.
  • Keeping track of customer credit limits and follow up of customer’s timely payments and to report to management any debtors that seem not to be paying.
  • Keeping all company information, including sales figures, strictly confidential.
  • Completing in an honest and accurate ways, all daily and weekly checklists, paperwork and related company documentation.
  • Assisting in sourcing material and ability to see trading opportunities and communicate the same to management.
  • Participate in year-end inventory and cycle counts.
  • Complete understanding of pricing and proposal models.
  • Maximizes all opportunities in the process of closing a sale, resulting in the taking of market share from larger competitors leading to increased sales turnover and margin for the company.
  • Develops a database of qualified leads through referrals, telephone canvassing, face to face cold calling on business owners, direct mail, email, and networking.
  • Maintains accurate records of all sales and prospecting activities, including sales calls, presentations, closed sales, and follow-up activities within their assigned territory, including the use of Microsoft Outlook to maintain accurate records to maximize territory potential.
  • Ensure that each customer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment, which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining solid product knowledge and all other aspects of customer service.
  • Maintain an awareness of all promotions and advertisements.
  • Maintain professional internal and external relationships that meet company core values.
  • Proactively establish and maintain effective working team relationships with all support departments.
  • Maintain personal ability in, and appropriate use of all relevant ICT and other systems within the sales and marketing function.
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes.
  • Any other tasks as assigned by the management.
Education and Experience
 
Academic Qualifications: University Degree
 
Professional Qualifications: Sales & Marketing Certification, proficiency in Microsoft office packages.
 
Experience: 3 years of relevant product & Industry knowledge / experience & supplier relationship management. FMCG experience preferred.  Experience in Oracle a plus.
 
Recommended Age at Appointment: Between 25 – 45 years.
 
Salary is 40k - 50k
 
Key Competencies: Possesses a demonstrated ability to communicate with associates and customers; accurately complete all documentation; strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements; proven ability to achieve sales targets within budgetary allocation; professionalism in dealing with both internal & external customers; a team player; willingness to travel to meet various customers; ability to work long & odd hours.
