Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) is a government state corporation whose vision is to be a world class referral hospital in the provision of innovative and specialized healthcare. 
The Hospital seeks to recruit dynamic, highly motivated, innovative and experienced individuals to fill the following vacant positions.

1. Manager, Information Communications Technology (ICT)
Job Group K3

Job Purpose
 
The Manager, ICT will be responsible to the Deputy Director (Administration & Finance) for the overall development, documentation, administration, implementation and maintenance of ICT installations and strategies in the Hospital. 

Key responsibilities
  • Ensure implementation and monitoring of the ICT Strategy to enhance the delivery of services, while clearly demonstrating ability to meet deadlines
  • Lead and drive a culture of innovation and creativity in seeking ICT solutions to organisational challenges.
  • Customize ICT systems into an interactive infrastructure which enables faster access to data and information and the sharing of ICT resources by users
  • Assure functionality of operating systems, network and applications software for effective communication and put in place measures which ensure security, privacy and integrity of ICT systems;
  • Maintain and/or develop new databases on a need basis;
  • Ensure Disaster and Recovery Management
  • Be expected to operate under an environment of Performance Contracting and enforce the realization of departmental and individual performance targets through performance management.
Qualifications and Experience
  • A Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent from a recognized institution
  • A Masters degree in Computer Science or any other ICT related discipline from a recognized institution.
  • Possess Professional certificate in either Microsoft certified Engineering Microsoft Certified Professional, Database Administration or Systems, Development
  • Ability to conceptualise and convert ideas into solutions;
  • At least 6 years progressive experience in Senior Management level.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Certification from relevant recognized professional bodies.
This position is on a three (3) year renewable contract subject to satisfactory performance
 
2.  Head, Risk and Audit 
Job Group K3

Job Purpose
 
Reporting to the Risk and Audit Committee of the Board of Management functionally and to the Chief Executive Officer administratively, the successful candidate will be expected to take a leading role in providing innovative risk, audit, and assurance and consulting services that add value and continually improve the hospitals operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of Internal Controls relating risks involved in the relevant business areas.
  • Formulation of audit management policies, procedures, regulations and auditing systems that respond to changing services, processes and operations and putting in required internal controls measures.
  • Develop efficient internal controls and risk management strategies in the hospital to address internal control deficiencies.
  • Monitor the implementation of action plans and recommendations.
  • Conduct risk based financial audits and systems(compliance) audits and recommend improvements
  • Issue periodic reports to the Chief Executive Officer and audit committee and facilitate preparation of routine audit reports.
  • Advise management on effective cost controls and revenue maximization measures.
  • Monitor emerging trends and successful practices in internal auditing;
Qualification and Experience
  • Must have a Bachelors degree in Finance or Accounting or Equivalent qualification from a recognized University.
  • Must have a Master’s degree in Finance or Accounting or Business administration or other equivalent qualification from a recognized University.
  • Must have CPA (K) or ACCA final and be an active member of ICPAK.
  • At least eight (5) years’ progressive experience in Auditing, five (3) of which must be in a management position in a reputable Audit firm or large organization.
  • Must have CISA and CIA or equivalent qualifications.
  • Must have knowledge of computerized Aided Audit Techniques.
  • A team leader with strong organizational, leadership, communication, report writing and analytical skills.
  • Proven proficiency in enterprise resource planning systems & MS office suites.

3. Security and Safety Services Manager 
Job Group K6

Job Purpose
 
The Security and Safety Services Manager will be responsible to the Chief Executive Officer for the coordination and ensuring effective maintenance of security and safety of Hospital property, staff and patients.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for security systems throughout the Hospital
  • To identify, evaluate and prescribe adequate corrective measures for any security threats that the Hospital may encounter.
  • To undertake security audits to assess the Hospitals security position.
  • Formulating guidelines, procedures and measures for security control in the Hospital.
  • Ensuring security of buildings, plants, equipment, work environment and patients.
  • Ensuring that access to the Hospital grounds, administrative areas, hostels for students and medical doctors and the wards are properly secured.
  • To investigate security related incidents and near misses.
  • Liaising with Kenya Police on security matters involving the Hospital.
  • Liaising with nursing personnel for the proper monitoring of patients.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or relevant security field.
  • Diploma in criminology or security management.
  • Minimum of five years experience in police or military service.
  • Experience and working knowledge of CCTV and integrated security systems.
  • Crime detection, investigation and report writing skills.
  • Five years (5) years progressive working experience in a comparable position.
  • Excellent Computer skills.
  • High standards of personal integrity
4. Deputy Human Resource Manager - Employee Services

Job Purpose
 
Reporting to the Human Resource Manager, the Successful candidate will be expected to promote best practices in Human Resource Management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performance management – deliver performance management programs that drive a high performance culture.
  • Recruitment and selection – direct and manage the recruitment and selection process, and train line managers in interviewing and assessment procedures.
  • Learning and development – implement and monitor effectiveness of training programs.
  • Human resources policies – develop, implement and maintain human resources policies across the organisation, including training programs to educate and promote awareness of regulatory compliance.
  • Evaluate internal processes and provide solutions that will ensure services to employees are timely and transparent.
  • Reporting and management of human resources metrics – produce reports on key metrics, including remuneration and benefits, absenteeism and turnover.
  • Leadership – mentor direct reports and provide coaching to help them reach their potential.
  • Provide technical advice to HR business partners in the divisions.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree in Human Resource Management or equivalent qualification.
  • Master’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or its equivalent from a recognised university.
  • Post graduate Higher Diploma in Human Resource management from a recognised institution or CPS(K)
  • Working experience of at least five (5) years at a management level in a large organisation.
  • Must be conversant with human resource management information system.
  • Proven experience in performance Management and employee compensation will have an added advantage.
  • Must be a member of Human Resource professional body (IHRM)
5. Deputy Human Resource Manager - Training and Talent Management

Job Purpose
 
Reporting to the Human Resource Manager, the Successful candidate will responsible for effective management of the training function and delivery of training solutions to enhance the company talent.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify training needs through job analysis, appraisal, regular consultation with Managers and operational requirements.
  • Design and develop appropriate programmes based on the identified needs
  • Coordinate and facilitate the training programmes.
  • Liaise with external consultants and arrange for external training and/or facilitation.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of training programmes and continually amend the programmes to adapt to changing business needs.
  • Develop talent management programs and coordinate talents management calendar.
  • Ensure that coaching and mentoring program activities are in alignment with talents management program activities.
  • Ensure courses offered through the training school are accredited and meet the required standards.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree in Human Resource Management or equivalent qualification.
  • Master’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or its equivalent from a recognised university.
  • Post graduate qualification in Human Resource Management or training
  • Certificate in training of trainers
  • Working experience of at least five (5) years in Training at a management level in a large organisation.
  • Must be conversant with human resource management information system.
  • Proven experience in Human resource training and Talent Management is a definite advantage.

6. Human Resource and Administration Officer II

  • Facilitate employee services activities such as recruitment, transfer, promotion, training, talent management among others.

7. Senior Supply Chain Officer

Provision of and ensuring timely availability of quality goods and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • To head one of the procurement, stock control and warehousing sections.
  • Prepare timely and accurate reports.
  • Ensure efficient management of supplies to the user departments.
  • Ensure that goods procured by the Hospital meet tender specifications.
  • Participate in the preparation of supplies expenditure estimates.
  • Effective supervision, training and development of staff.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supplies and Logistic, Commerce, Economics or Business Administration.
  • Must have a post graduate Diploma in Supplies/logistics or CIPS final.
  • Registered by the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM).
  • Conversant with computer based inventory system. 
  • At least five (5) years’ experience in a large organisation. 
  • Master’s degree in procurement or business administration is an added advantage.
8. Supply Chain Officer II

Job Purpose
 
To provide professional support services to the various Units in the supply chain Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinating and facilitating the acquisition of goods and services.
  • Prepare procurement plans for areas of deployment and ensure that tender documents are properly prepared.
  • Ensure that effective and efficient re-order levels for various items are fixed and maintained and Prepare orders for various supply items.
  • Ensure that all procurement is done in accordance with the procedures as per procurement policy and that it is in compliance to the internal and external audit requirements.
  • Prepare, receives, records and analyses tender documents for discussion by the Tender Board.
  • Receive supplies and verifies them against orders in respect to quality, quantity and price.
  • To process maintain and ensure safe custody of procurement documents and samples.
  • Conducts price surveys and monitors factors that affect price levels for planning purposes.
Qualifications and Experience
  • A degree in Purchasing and Supplies from a recognized university.

9. Senior Risk and Audit Officer

  • Promote efficient and quality audit services.
  • Plan, manage and supervise audit reviews.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls.

  • Periodic audit of Hospital processes and procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor of Commerce Degree ( Accounting option)
  • Must have CPA(K) or its equivalent
  • Must be registered with ICPAK.
  • Must be conversant with computerised audit packages
  • Possession of CIA or CISA is desirable.
  • A Master’s degree in Business Administration  will be an added advantage
  • Working experience of at least five (5) years progressive experience in a large organization
10. Medical Specialist II

We require Specialists in Anesthesia, Radiology, Oncology, Orthopaedic and general surgery, Pediatrics’ and Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Job Purpose
 
To contribute to clinical outcomes through provision of specialized quality health care services in their area of specialty.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in the planning and delivery of efficient and high quality medical care to patients.
  • Respond to consultations from other clinical specialties.
  • Ensure proper utilization of equipment and other supplies in the department.
  • Participate in clinical research and teaching.
  • Ensure effective supervision, training and development of staff.
Qualifications and experience
  • Master’s Degree in any of the aforementioned specialties from a recognized university.
  • Registration Certificate and current Practicing License from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists’ Board (Kenya).
  • Must be ready to pursue sub specialties aligned to the hospital needs.
11. Medical Physicist I

Job Purpose

Contribute to the patient satisfaction through Provision of accessible and specialized quality health care services.

Key responsibilities
  • Treatment planning of cancer patients,
  • Carry out radiation dosimetry work,
  • Supervise radiographers performing both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for cancer patients,
  • Administration of radioactive drugs to patient undergoing diagnosis or therapy under a specialist’s prescription
  • Ensure radiation safety at work.
Qualifications and Experience
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Physics or Engineering, Medical Physics/Health Physics from a recognized institution;
  • Registration by the Radiation and Protection Board.
  • Two years progressive experience in a busy Hospital.
