National Council for Law Reporting Network Admin Assistant Job in Kenya

The National Council for Law Reporting is a semi-autonomous state corporation in the Judiciary. 
It is established under the National Council for Law Reporting Act, 1994.
 
The mandate of the Council is:
  • To monitor and report on the development of Kenyan jurisprudence through the publication of the Kenya Law Reports;
  • To revise, consolidate and publish the Laws of Kenya; and
  • To undertake such other related publications and perform such other functions as may be conferred by law.
The Council is Kenya's focal point institution in providing access to public legal information. 
It is led by a Council of Members chaired by The Hon. Chief Justice and managed through a secretariat headed by an Editor/CEO.

Job Title: Network Admin Assistant
 
Job Grade: KLR 7
 
Reporting to: Network Administrator
 
Department: ICT Department
 
Basic Salary not including allowances: Ksh.35,275 (1,764)- 37,039 (1,852)- 38,891 (1,944) - 40,835 (2,042)-  42,877 (2,144)- 45,021 (2,251)-47,272 p.m.

Duties and Responsibilities
 
Duties and responsibilities will be undertaken in furtherance of the Council's Strategic Plan and ICT Policy and they will entail:
  • Configuration and installation of computer hardware and software;
  • Printer Installation;
  • Troubleshooting Internet & E-mail related problems;
  • Configuration of local area network and VLANs;
  • Ensure to the security of network resources;
  • Verification and certification of  network hardware as per set standards;
  • Maintaining and implementation of network systems.
  • Manage the inventory of network asset equipment;
  • Work with internet access service providers to ensure smooth internet connectivity and maintained bandwidth and outages are reported, escalated in a timely manner;
  • Perform analysis of customer/user request based on their environment, location and nature of work they perform for appropriate user solution;
  • Conduct user training; and
  • Keep oneself updated on the emerging appropriate technologies and recommending them for implementation
  • Any other tasks allocated by supervisor.
Qualifications, Experience and Personal Attributes

For appointment to this position, a candidate must:-
  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines:- Computer, Information Science, Computer/ Software Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
  • Diploma in any of the following disciplines:-  Computer/Information Science, Engineering or related discipline is an added advantage;
  • CCNA certified.
  • Certification in any of the following:- N+, MCSE CCNP, CISA or other ICT equivalent certification will be an added advantage;
  • Have served for at least two (2) years in information technology related field such as in supporting VLAN/LAN or WAN network environment;
  • Knowledge of Unix/Linux/Apple and all Windows Technology Microsoft or IT help desk/ service desk certifications will be an added advantage;
  • Have  demonstrated ability to work in a team;
  • Have excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills;
  • Be fluent in written and spoken Swahili and English.
