Mercy Corps Agri-Fin Mobile Program Advisor Job in Kampala Uganda

Mercy Corps is looking to fill the position of Agri-Fin Mobile Program Advisor to be based in Kampala, Uganda.
 
The Agri-Fin Mobile program approach works with partners to build sustainable models, where farm and crop management tools and financial services are “bundled” in affordable, unified platforms on mobile phone channels to promote mass uptake commercially. 

The Program Advisor will be responsible for technical oversight of the program, market research and partner development as well as supporting country coordinators to manage project implementation.
 

Job Type: Full Time, with 50% international travel
 
Duties:
  • Maintain a clear vision and strategy for the program that can be clearly communicated to team members, government, partners, investors, media, Mercy Corps colleagues and program clients;
  • Develop close working relationships with all project participants and stakeholders – including the primary stakeholders, operations departments, private sector and NGOs – all parties required to establish a shared vision of the project and achieve objectives;
  • Review business plans annually based on new opportunities, including products, financial and outreach projections;
  • Document all lessons learned from the program and prepare periodic case studies, beneficiary stories and annual e-books for publication;
  • Lead the process of writing, editing, assembling, and submitting program reports as well as publishing all program related case studies, e-books and lessons learned;
  • Represent Mercy Corps and Agri-Fin Mobile at public events, conferences and workshops to promote the Agri-Fin Mobile program and disseminate learnings;
  • Manage and promote program online resources such as website, facebook, twitter, etc;
  • Actively seek opportunities to leverage the program. Work with Mercy Corps’ Social Innovations, TSUs, and country field offices to identify areas for program coordination, as well as opportunities for related new programming; and
  • Provide ongoing and active support to developing Agri-Fin expansion strategies, and proposal development.

The main role of a Unit Manager will be to ensure that high production targets are met through a team of Financial advisors and his/her personal production. 

Key roles will include;
  • Identify, recruit and retain high caliber financial advisors and meet the unit recruitment requirements
  • Develop a high caliber, highly motivated, disciplined and productive team  of 15 or more capable of meeting their individual and company targets.
  • Meet and exceed targets allocated to the unit on all lines of business.
  • Co-ordinate, supervise and motivate Financial Advisors in the unit and ensure that company policies and procedures are observed and performance standards regarding profitability and efficiency are attained within the set deadlines.
Training: To give effective field training for all Financial Advisors in the Unit.

Professionalism: Promote and project in all sales activity a high degree of professionalism within the unit.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant professional qualifications in areas such as education, marketing, economics or finance and accounting with a strong flair for sales.  Computer literate (evidence required)
  • Proven experience and success as a team manager in insurance sales will be a definite advantage;
  • A high sales drive and a strong will to succeed with ability to manage others;
  • Mature, confident, articulate and with strong communication skills;
  • Results oriented with ability to work under strict deadlines and meet sales targets;
  • Well groomed, presentable and strong interpersonal skills;

Job Purpose

The Job holder will Provide an educational program for kindergarten students in an environment favourable to learning and personal growth; establishes effective rapport with children to promote positive attitudes of self-worth; motivates students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for further participation in the total school program, in accordance with each child's ability; establishes good relationships with parents and with other staff members

Key responsibilities
  • Teaches elemental natural and social science, personal hygiene, music, art, and literature to children from 4 to 6 years old, to promote their physical, mental, and social development:
  • Instructs children in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth in facility, such as preschool or day care centre.
  • Plans individual and group activities for children, such as learning to listen to instructions, playing with others, and using play equipment.
  • Supervises activities, such as field visits, group discussions, and dramatic play acting, to stimulate students' interest in and broaden understanding of their physical and social environment.
  • Fosters cooperative social behavior through games and group projects to assist children in forming satisfying relationships with other children and adults.

Minimum Requirements
  • A Certificate/Diploma in Early Childhood Education
  • Bachelor s Degree an added advantage
  • A minimum of 1 year of professional early childhood education teaching experience required
  • Montessori curriculum experience an added advantage
Knowledge and attributes
  • Demonstrated knowledge of developmentally appropriate curriculum practice for 4 and 5 year old children
  • Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability and openness to new ideas in education practices, particularly related to Kindergarten Prep curriculum and materials
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to create partnerships with families
  • Proven strength in verbal and written communication and organizational skills
