National Project Coordinator (NPC)

UNIDO enhances the capacity of developing countries to participate and become fully integrated into the global economy.

The overall objective of the SMAP Programme is to enhance market access and competitiveness of Kenya’s animal and plant-based products, through greater adoption of relevant international standards and improved regulation and enforcement in the country.
 
The EU funded UNIDO project is seeking a Kenyan national expert for the position of NPC. 

The main duties for this position include the following:

Project Implementation, Coordination and Reporting

  • Coordinate and monitor the execution of the day to day processes and activities of the project.
  • Assist the project manager, Chief Technical Advisor and counterparts to establish and operate the project.
  • Establish and maintain the required relations and exchange of information with the local authorities, private sector institutions, enterprises, support institutions and other development partners.
  • Prepare and monitor the implementation of work/action! upgrading plans. 
  • Participate in the Mid Term Review and provide inputs for final evaluation of the project.
  • Prepare and support missions of consultants, seminars, workshops, study tours, fellowships and training activities ¡n accordance with UNIDO rules and regulations.
  • Prepare weekly progress reports and final report.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 3 years experience in the related fields: Trade Capacity Building; International Business Administration, Food Safety / Food Processing, Quality Management.
  • University degree, preferably in economics, business administration or engineering (agriculture, food processing, trade capacity building or another relevant discipline);
  • Good practical experience in project coordination in the areas such as trade, food safety, quality management
  • Excellent team player with the ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines;
  • Avail of good communication and interpersonal skills, and the capacity to deal effectively with sensitive issues;
  • Computer literate.
  • Languages: Fluency in English, verbal and written
