Job Location: Nairobi, Kenya – with field work in rural Kenya

Overall purpose of the job: The Project Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the SunnyMoney Brains’ department (Innovation Unit of SunnyMoney). 

He/she will support the department in the multiple projects but particularly with the Pay-As-You-Go Solar Lamps project (planning and execution) in Kenya. 

He/she will be focused on carrying on field visit and managing the aftersales services (customer service and maintenance) and project learnings.

Position Responsibilities

Logistics and Operations
  • To manage communications with education officials, HTM’s and deliveries (and all other support necessary) of the PAYG lights
  • To maintain accurate stock records at all times
  • To create comprehensive and achievable work plans
  • To support all customers in after-sales service, this includes managing the helpline, frequent communication with head teachers, troubleshooting, and/or notifying SunnyMoney Brains in order to resolve all issues
  • To maintain accurate records of expenditure and to follow pre-defined budgets.
Reporting
  • To complete the following reporting sturture: basic project reports; weekly report; helpline log; survey log; monthly report; financial report and all other reports pre-agreed with line manager
  • To maintain an uptodate shared calander at all times and to upload the folder with the work document in a share folder with the rest of the team.
Generating Learnings
  • To conduct the following surveys/questionnaires/interviews with the following: head teachers, end-customers (during purchase, during payback and post pay-back), members of school community who did not purchase, and all other associated people with the project deemed of value
  • To ensure all interactions are accurately recorded in detail, in such a way as to help SunnyMoney Brains strategies

The main duties for this position include the following:

Project Implementation, Coordination and Reporting

Minimum Qualifications
  • 3 years experience in the related fields: Trade Capacity Building; International Business Administration, Food Safety / Food Processing, Quality Management.
  • University degree, preferably in economics, business administration or engineering (agriculture, food processing, trade capacity building or another relevant discipline);
  • Good practical experience in project coordination in the areas such as trade, food safety, quality management
  • Excellent team player with the ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines;
  • Avail of good communication and interpersonal skills, and the capacity to deal effectively with sensitive issues;
  • Computer literate.

CAP Youth Empowerment Institute Kenya, is supported by MasterCard Foundation, was established to provide Basic Employability Skills Training (BEST) for disadvantaged youth in the society with particular focus on women to get equitable, qualitative learning and access to promising labour market oriented opportunities, savings and credit that support their pathways to safe and positive futures. 

The key purpose of the organization is to assist 10,000 disadvantaged youth to make informed choices, develop labour-market oriented employability skills and access job placements, savings and enterprise development support. 
 
About the position
 

Successful candidate will be charged with the responsibility of Developing and managing CAP YEI’s Business Development strategy and building relationships with stakeholders to seek their support of the program in terms of internships and placement for the youth, curriculum development, mentors and guest lecturers.
 
Job Responsibilities   
  • Interacting with various industry players and seeking their support towards the program.
  • Develop positive relationships with different stake holders from different industries.
  • Build relationships with new stakeholders.
  • Develops strategies to secure partners.
  • Creating awareness and marketing the program.
  • Making presentations to various stake holders.
  • Use of persuasive approaches and pitches that will convince these organizations to partner with the Cap Youth Empowerment Institute.
  • Set up high profile meetings between various organizations and CAP YEI Management.
  • Identify and propose potential organization to partner with.
  • Any other job assigned by your seniors.
Requirements
  • 5 years hands on experience in Business Development in a highly competitive environment
  • Innovative, creative and achievement oriented.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Strong business development and relationship management skills.
  • Proven track record of success in the acquisition of new business
  • Must be mature and with the right attitude.
  • Highly organized, conscientious and detail oriented.
  • Must have passion of working with young people.
  • Relevant business Degree.

Position: Business Development Officer

Responsibilities

  • Put in place mechanisms to ensure that the set targets are achieved.
