The Kenya Bureau of
standards (KEBS) is a statutory organization of the Government of Kenya
established by the Standards Act, Cap 496 of the laws of Kenya in July
1974.
The mandate of KEBS is to
provide Standardization, Metrology and Conformity Assessment services
through Promotion of standardization in commerce and industry, Provision
of testing and calibration facilities, Control of the use of
standardization marks, undertaking educational work in standardization,

Receiving, Handling and
Testing of Samples in the food and agriculture laboratory in line with
TES Quality Policy and ISO/IEC17025 Specification
Key Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform tests on a variety of samples using standard operating procedures and methods.
- Verifying, receiving and proper storage of all incoming samples from Sample Control Centre.
- Carrying out preparation of samples and reagents as defined in the approved analytical procedure.
- Operate, adjust and maintain equipment as defined by the manufacturer and the equipment work instruction.
- Ensuring timely entry and validation of test Results entry in to the LIMS
- Take Custody of the samples allocated through the analytical process.
- Maintain integrity and confidentiality of testing records (e.g. protocols, equipment setups and monitoring, and experimental results).
- Ensure proper use and management of laboratory equipment during analytical process (routine maintenance, reporting of fault and request for calibration).
- Monitoring of chemical, reagent and other materials re-order levels and initiating requisitions of the same.
- Participating in validation of new /revised test methods.
- Conduct in-house training for new staff on first appointment and students on attachment.
- Implement Testing health and safety policies and ensure good house keeping
- Implementing the laboratory Quality Management System as documented.
Other Duties:
- Participate in internal audits and management review as required by the laboratory Quality management system.
- Disposal / return of tested samples to sample control centre.
- Participating in technical committees when called upon
- Providing expert testimony to the legal department in court cases involving testing issues when called upon

To maintain and
