We are looking for a young, energetic and passionate individual to fill the position of Kindergarten Driver

2 Positions

Job Purpose: The job holder is responsible for safely operating the school vehicle according to a set daily Schedule.  

He/she must ensure that the school bus is in good operating condition at all times, pick up and drop off children as per the schedule, maintain order and security on the bus and obey all the laws, regulations and rules of conduct.

Key responsibilities

  • Operate the school vehicle in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures
  • Perform daily safety, maintenance checks and minor maintenance duties such as changing the oil
  • Clean the bus as scheduled and/or required
  • Ensure the bus is safely and securely stored
  • Advise the Senior Administrative Officer of any requirements for maintenance or repairs
  • Maintain schedules and maintain order on the School vehicle
  • Pick up and deliver children as per a set schedule; take attendance on the school vehicle
  • Ensure students are aware of rules and responsibilities as passengers and make note of any behavioural or disciplinary problems
  • Perform any other related duties
Minimum Requirements
  • Valid Driving license
  • Be fluent in English
  • Maintain safety of the children, vehicles and self on the road
  • Friendly and passionate about children 
  • Certificate of good conduct
  • 1-2 years working experience
  • Professional and personal grooming
Salary: Kshs. (12,000 – 18,000)

Logistician/Driver

SIF is looking for a professionally confident, self-motivated, experienced and a committed team player to fill the above position.

The logistician plays a key role in implementing the country strategy, especially the required logistical inputs, as well as ensuring that established Logistics policies are followed

He/she is responsible for the management of logistics function at the capital,
including the implementation of procedures for procurement, fleet management, communication systems, in line with SIF guidelines and procedures.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Assist Logistics Coordinator in general Logistics Planning and implementation of logistics component of the SIF Country Strategy.
  • Purchase requisitioned items in accordance to SIF supply chain regulations and ensure that correct and good quality goods are received by requesters on time
  • Manage stock as prescribed in SIF regulations and ensure that goods are safe from pilferage and severe physical and weather conditions. Ensure correct use of goods as per Donor conditions and monitor expiry dates so as to avoid wastage
  • Manage SIF assets in a cost effective manner and as prescribed in the regulations so as to realize optimal benefits, low cost of ownership and optimal lifespan
  • Ensure that SIF fleet of vehicles are managed in a cost effective manner and fuel usage follow up, analyzed and reported on a monthly basis
  • Ensure cost effective functioning of IT and communication systems
  • Effectively and efficiently manage staff and Cargo movements
Requirements
  • Relevant diploma in either Business, Logistics & Procurement, Engineering or any other relevant course
  • At least 2 years of relevant logistics experience in an NGO
  • Have excellent IT skills and proficiency in MS Office
  • Have a valid Kenyan Driving license, preferably class BCE
  • Be transparent, honest and trust worthy; be able to work under pressure and strict deadlines
  • Good communication skills in both English and Swahili (Written and spoken)
  • Knowledge of Motor vehicle mechanics or Electrical installation will be an added advantage
  • Proactive and able to work independently and have a good sense of organization;
  • Have an eye for detail and Good numeracy
  • Have interpersonal skills, high communication abilities and training abilities

Driver
Job Summary: The driver to be based in North Pokot will drive a project vehicle during outreaches and mobilizations, ferry materials and personnel for field activities as well as run administrative errands when needed.

Responsibilities and duties:

  • Maintain the vehicles by keeping them clean at all times and taking them for regular service.
  • Ensure that when not in use for project activities, the vehicles are always parked at the IRDO premises or other officially designated places.
  • Ensure that fuel is obtained from and maintenance is done by appointed dealers only.
  • Obtain project supplies and perform other messengerial duties as assigned.
  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • At least a form four candidate with a minimum of D+.

Key Responsibilities

  • To operate the company vehicles in a safe and professional manner including the operation Oil Tankers, and flat beds trucks.
  • To collect cargo from specified locations within an agreed time-frame per collection
  • To collect from company facilities, any item approved by the company for carriage.
  • Deliver any of the above to a third party or other company location / s directed by the company management.

Qualifications/experience

  • Evidence of driver’s previous safe driving record from past employers and good conduct is sought.
  • Driver must have a valid Tanzanian Class C license with experience of petroleum product handling
  • All drivers will undergo a medical test of fitness to drive and health screening program including vision before recruitment by company’s nominated doctor.
  • Employee must possess a respective driver's license.
  • Must be aged between 30 – 45 with an experience of not less than 5 years of driving HCV’s with a clean driving record, if necessary, ability to certify in special needs assistance training, defensive driver training, Safety, Fire and first aid.
  • Must take and successfully pass a pre-employment drug test, as well as at random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident drug and alcohol tests.
  • Secondary Education Certificates with Good interpersonal communication skills, fluent in Swahili and little bit of English.
