Health Poverty Action Field Coordinator Job in Mandera Kenya

Job Title: Field Coordinator (Two years contract renewable)
 

Duty Station: Mandera County, Mandera Town
 
Reports to: REACH Programme Manager.
 
Background
 
The Global Poverty Action Project (GPAF) is a maternal and child health project funded by Department for international Development (DFID). It is been implemented by Health poverty action (HPA) in partnership with Emergency Pastoralist Assistance Group (EPAG)
 
Job summary
 
The Field Coordinator will be based in Mandera. 

The incumbent will be the key technical and managerial person at the field level for Health Poverty Action. 

He/she is responsible for providing technical leadership at the field level, day-to-day implementation of the MCH project. 

Oversee the implementation of the MCH Project initiatives by CBHRAs and the project partners and associates to improve the accessibility, utilization and quality of maternal and child health services.

Responsibilities:
  • Work in collaboration with DHMT in strengthening the link between Community and the health facilities.
  • Work closely with Local leaders and Community Conversation Facilitators and project partner and associates in raising Health awareness and educate communities on maternal child health issues in the communities
  • Develop work plan based on the approved project’s work plan detailing activities to be undertaken, and implement in collaboration with actors in the project.
  • Will be the project Point Person for all MCH activities in Mandera County. The holder will coordinate, identify and mobilize stakeholders who will be collaborators in the implementation of activities, oversee activity roll out, implement and sustain knowledge and demand for services.
  • Support the Project Manager in needs assessments undertaken by the project in the area, including those for training needs, facility upgrades and other assessments to be undertaken in the program.
  • Liaise with MoH, and assist to conduct training needs assessment and identify health workers to be trained from project implementing health facilities.
  • Assist in organizing relevant workshops and participate in training.
  • Actively participate in the drawing, implementation and supervision of quarterly and annual project implementation plan.
  • Represent the organization at the community level during program implementation.
  • Prepare regular and timely program reports and submit to the program manager.
  • Identify and document challenges in implementation that would have negative impact and or undermine the performance of the program, identify solutions and implement actions on timely basis to avert negative performance in consultation with program coordinator, manager and other program team members.
  • Documenting information and write reports of all project activities undertaken at least 5 days after implementation, type and share with project Managers and technical officer. Use information generated by the activities to analyze gaps and plan for appropriate mitigation.
Essential requirements
  • Significant experience in the implementation of community health projects in an NGO setting
  • Bachelors degree in health or other relevant degree
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills
  • Computer literacy in Word, Excel, Access & Power Point
  • Fluent oral and written English
  • Good report writing skill
Desirable requirements
  • Bachelors’ degree in health, social sciences or other relevant degree with 3 years experience.
  • Good understanding MOPHS policy, guidelines and service delivery system on maternal neonatal and child health as well as computer skills on report writing and spreadsheets
