In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below:

Reporting to the Head of Department- Enterprise Risk Management, the successful candidate will play a leading role in shaping, guiding and implementing Information Risk Management and Compliance at Safaricom  by liaising closely with other managers across the business and in particular in Technology.
In carrying out their duties therefore, the required candidate will develop, implement and monitor information security policies and metrics and evaluate the information security risk and adequacy of mitigations at Safaricom.

Key responsibilities will be to;

  • Forms a “center of excellence” for information security management, for example offering internal management consultancy and advisory services on information security risk and control matters throughout the organization and promoting the commercial advantages of managing information security risks more efficiently and effectively;
  • Coordinate and/or track resolution of Information Security Risk control items arising out of the Risk Assessment activities within the Safaricom Enterprise Risk Management Framework;
  • Establish independent monitoring for compliance with both with internal security policies etc. and applicable laws and regulations to cover, but not limited to, our User access management, auditing and logging policies and specific controls on critical systems e.g. M-PESA;
  • Liaison with and offers strategic direction to related governance functions (such as Technology, Physical Security/Facilities, Business Continuity management,  HR, and Corporate Affairs) plus senior and middle managers throughout the organization as necessary, on information security matters such as routine security activities plus emerging security risks and control technologies;
  • Leads or commissions the preparation and authorizes the implementation of necessary information security policies, standards, procedures and guidelines, in conjunction with Technology Security;
  • Leads or commissions suitable information security awareness, training and educational activities;
  • Leads or commissions information security risk assessments and controls selection activities;
The ideal candidate should possess the following skills & competencies;
  • Degree in a technical field IT, Business Information Systems (or related technical field) from a recognized university.
  • At least 7 years of full-time work experience in information security management and/or related functions (such as IT audit and IT Risk Management). Experience in a banking or money transfer environment will be an added advantage
  • Absolutely trustworthy with high standards of personal integrity, and willing to undergo vetting and/or personality assessments to verify this if necessary.
  • Holder of at least one of the following certifications: CISA, CISM or CISSP.
  • Detailed knowledge of GSM as well as IT Networks is  preferred.

  • Audits all security facilities, equipment and other related installations in all airports and make or recommendations where appropriate.

Qualifications and Experience
  • University degree in a business or a related field
  • Professional qualification either in CIA, CFA, CPA (K) or ACCA.

Job Summary: As a member of the senior management team, the Chief Risk Officer ( CRO ) is responsible for facilitating the execution of the Enterprise-wide Risk Management (ERM) framework in the Bank. 

The position holder is expected to lead and own the Bank’s risk strategy and is expected to drive various risk management initiatives covering numerous risk areas commensurate with the Bank’s risk appetite.

Job Specifications:
  • A Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Banking, Finance or Economics with a relevant professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CISA; certified risk and compliance accreditations shall have added advantage;
  • A minimum of 10 years relevant professional experience in risk management and risk supervision in financial institutions; experience with accounting and risk management in banks and financial institutions such as pension funds and insurance companies will have added advantage;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of ERM concepts, financial systems and process audit and thorough knowledge of regional and international financial service industry dynamics including regulations, legislations and operating environment;
  • Ability to think strategically and appreciate the systemic impact of policies, issues and solutions on ERM;
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct reviews and development of policies and procedures and align them with best practices including IFRS, Basel rules and other statutes;
  • Robust analytical and interpreting skills on exposures data and problem solving skills;

Job Objective

Reporting to the Postal Corporation of Kenya Postmaster General, the Senior Manager Investigation and Security Risk Management’s overall responsibility is directing and managing all security, investigations and security risk management portfolio within the corporation.
 
Key Responsibilities

The responsibility of the Manager is as follows:-

  • Develop capacity on using contemporary security management resources, training, supervising and developing investigators and security risk management officers.
  • Monitoring, reviewing and auditing investigations to come up with appropriate risk mitigation responses.
  • Security asset Management, physical security and Human Resource safety,
  • System analysis as a strategy to develop preventive measures,

Qualifications

The qualifications and experience of the manager is as follows:-
  • A Bachelors degree in Criminology, Law, Social Sciences, Forensic Science, Criminal Justice, Security Management or other related areas.
  • Post graduate training in Forensic Investigations, Fraud Investigations or Security Management.
  • Proven working experience in Security Management or criminal investigation.
  • A minimum of 12 years progressive experience in fraud investigation, law enforcement, government national or international agency with practical experience in forensic investigation at senior levels.
  • Minimum 8 years managerial experience, managing investigations, security and risk mitigation within a large organization preferably within a corporate organization and /or law enforcement.
  • Extensive criminal investigative background with emphasis on allegations of abuse of office, fraud, conflicts of interest in Kenya.
  • Knowledge and understanding in the field of fraud administrative investigations, IT and forensic techniques
  • Ability to conduct and supervise complex investigations with good analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Have the ability to independently develop and implement risk mitigation programs within the corporation.
  • Have a thorough understanding of prosecution processes.
  • Must be computer literate with strong end user skills.
  • Integrity must be above reproach.

Main Purpose of role:
 
Responsible for the management of Operational Risk within the region, including the implementation of a risk management framework. 

The incumbent will be expected to understand the key operational risk issues impacting the various markets the business operates in. 

He / She will be required to establish and implement programs for quality improvement of the operations through deployment of best practices and quality standards.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
Operational Risk Management
  • Manages overall processes and assumes accountability for the region’s quality management practices.
  • Formulation of standards and policies for Operational Risk Management within the region, while ensuring they are in line with the standards and policies of the Real People Group;
  • Responsible for building an Operational Risk Management framework with assistance from the Group operational Risk Manager;

As our Safety Officer and reporting to the Site Manager you will be responsible for overseeing the implementation and adaptation of all environment, health and safety   policies and procedures making them relevant for use at the plant. 

You will be expected to advice the plant manager on relevant continuous improvement plans regarding environment, health and safety, in order to improve safety and safe operations at the plant. 

Additionally, you will be expected compile, and present data related to H & S as required. You will ensure visitor safety and compliance with rules as well as promote and ensure safety of all employees, contractors and visitors. 

Furthermore as the Safety Officer you are expected to develop a system of monitoring Lost Time Accident and develop a system of monitoring safety and environmental aspects of the plant. Communication internally and externally about and H& Safety procedures, process and actions will be very much part of your role. 

Finally you will be required to develop an efficient security system in the plant capable of handling all eventualities.

Duties and responsibilities:
  • To assist the client/subcontractor(s) in organizing of safety, environmental protection, and occupational health issues at site and to determine and act according to any Wärtsilä, client, and/or local regulations.
  • To prepare site safety, environmental, and occupational health plans according to the local regulations and Wärtsilä directives and to introduce the plans to all parties at site.
  • To investigate any possible accidents and write reports on their findings
  • To maintain contacts with the local safety, environmental and health authorities and act as liaison with these authorities.
  • To co-ordinate safety, environmental and occupational health meetings and reporting procedures as agreed with the client and/or the subcontractors.
  • To highlight the economical safety, environmental and health arrangements for the client and subcontractor(s)
  • To supervise the compliance of safety and health directives as well environmental incident prevention at site at all times
  • To ensure and promote site safety, environmental protection and occupational health at all times and to give feedback to home office and designers.
  • To create and maintain good human relations at site
  • To highlight the environmental protection, make sure that oil, paints and chemicals and, etc. are properly stored, transported and handled to avoid any spillage or danger to personnel and property.
Important!
 
Site personnel are responsible for the following:
  • that contractual obligations (with agreed quality, on schedule, at agreed cost, etc.) are fulfilled
  • that environmental and safety instructions are followed
  • that Wärtsilä installation instructions are followed
  • that the power plant is commissioned and handed over to the client
  • create and maintain good team spirit
  • each and everyone delivers his time sheet once a month according to the instructions
To carry out this role efficiently you will have a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental studies or equivalent. 

You will have excellent computer skills, 1- 2 years experience as an environmental Health and Safety Officer, preferably in a plant environment. 

Your communication skills will be excellent as well as your presentation, reporting and analytical skills. 

You should have good interpersonal skills and have demonstrable ability to adapt to changing situations.
